Privacy Roundup: Week 1 of Year 2025
Week 1 features news items covering leaked identity documents, Apple settling a Siri-related privacy lawsuit, the US Treasury getting hacked by PRC-linked APTs, and more.
Hello and welcome to 2025! Happy new year!
This year, I want to try to publish more directly on avoidthehack.com in addition to being active on Mastodon. I read cybersecurity and privacy news a lot; however, I don’t always have a topic I explicitly want to blog about week after week… so, enter the “Privacy Roundup.”
Simply put, the Privacy Roundup will cover key news related items in both the privacy and cybersecurity landscapes - the focus will remain on individuals and small/micro organizations.
This is the first launch of the Privacy Roundup.
Identity documents leaked to the public internet, Apple settling a lawsuit concerning Siri listening to things it shouldn’t, the US Treasury hacked by PRC-connected APTs, and threat actors targeting D-Link routers can be found in this edition.
Enjoy!
Stay safe out there,
