The Browser Comparison Tool Reaches 2.0

Browser Comparison Tool hits version 2.0, with revamped design, new subdomain, and enhanced features.

On 13 MAR 2024, the Browser Comparison Tool reached a big milestone: version 2.0!

You can skip the reading and view it at: https://browsers.avoidthehack.com

Here are some highlights from the change log:

  • Complete overall of the look and feel of the comparison table/tool

  • The tool has moved to its own subdomain (there is a redirect in place to prevent broken links to the old location)

  • The FAQ has been expanded

  • Each browser listed in the table now has its own "details" page

  • If the browser in question is on privacytests.org, indicate and show that link (details pages)

  • If the browser in question is also listed on privacyguides.org, indicate this and show that link (details pages)

  • If the browser is recommended by avoidthehack.com or there is a post about it, link that (details pages)

The source code for this tool can be viewed at: https://github.com/avoidthehack/Private-Browsers-Table

Note: The backend has not been released yet. It is just a modified version of PicoCMS, so users interested can clone the PicoCMS repo and then copy the Browser Comparison contents/assets into PicoCMS, which should give a mostly working version.
