It was November of 2023 that I first entered the public facing author space. All those months ago, I took the first step.

It’s been a full year since I sat myself down, curated an author brand & visual identity, chose a pen name, and started working on one of my projects.

Since then, I’ve written approximately 400,000 words in fiction.

I’m about to publish my first novel, against all the odds that tried to keep me silent, and keep the story from being told.

I’ve made friends. I’ve lost friends. I’ve been used. I’ve been scorned. I’ve been shunned. I’ve put myself out there. I’ve been snubbed. I’ve been rejected. I’ve dealt with crippling fear and disappointment. I’ve made better friends. I’ve had to remove myself from spaces that aren’t aligned. I’ve changed my stance on writing smut. I’ve helped others. I haven’t found my true readers yet. I’ve gotten feedback that crushed me. I’m still learning to be more self sufficient, and make my decisions with confidence, and without consulting anyone. I’m still learning to trust myself.

I’ve learned a thousand lessons, sustained a thousand burns, but most importantly, I’ve kept writing.
