Getting Ahead Of The Game
I’m a fantasy writer.
But you already knew that.
I’m a indie author.
You already knew that too.
The pressure for indie authors to release books really quickly; one behind the other - is insane. I’m not sure if you knew that, but I know I’ve mentioned it before.
Me? I’m not one to be forced into things, or to follow the crowd.
You probably knew that already.
My release schedule will NOT be rushed.
I won’t be releasing any books until 2025. That’ll be my debut year.
Anyways, that’s not what this is about. I was just thinking - trying to plan out my release schedule for my debut in advance, and it made me realize that the four books I’m drafting this year will cover my releases from 2025-2028! I’m only planning to release one book a year, and tbh, that’s already a ton of work as it is.
My four silly little drafts from 2024 will take me right through until 2028. The books I’m writing now as a 23 year old won’t be released til I’m 27/28. That doesn’t even feel real.
Now, I’m even more glad that I decided not to publish anything this year, and focus on just writing instead. I didn’t realize it at the time, but this decision is putting me so far ahead I can’t even fathom it.
What about the books I plan to write next year? They won’t be released ‘til 2029 onwards! Wow! Feels both scary and relieving at the same time. But I’ll take being ‘behind’ in 2024 to be 4 books ahead down the line. That’s a win in my book!
