Brave New Capital Updates - Editing like crazy...
Hello Brave New Capital supporters!
Hope you are doing well. I’m writing this week from Portugal where I’m hard at work with Jessica Pothering, my amazing editor from Adventure Finance who has come back for more editing fun with Brave New Capital.
She has been working on the manuscript for the past few weeks and has many, many, many notes… Thankfully, we don’t have to restructure the whole book (which we did for Adventure Finance!), but rather Jessica and I are reworking the content within individual chapters and sections. Still a lot of hard yards ahead, but I actually love this part. Having Jessica deep dive into the content and ask some hard questions really helps to crystallize the thinking and make the writing clearer. Couldn’t do this without her.
Erinch’s chapters are up next for Jessica’s red pen, wish him luck!
On the publishing side, we’ve gotten a couple of no’s from traditional publishers, which is disappointing, but the predominant feedback was that the book’s reach was too global (rather than American), so I guess that is a compliment?
We are in the midst of reaching out to a few more this week. The 1,164 pre-orders is definitely opening the door for conversations, so thank you!
Honestly, we are a bit torn. Both of us just want this book to get to as many people as possible at the most accessible price. Self-publishing would be the quickest (could be out by November) and give us the most control over price. In that case, we’d really need to lean on our readers and our social media platforms to publicize the book. A traditional publisher might slow us down and take away some of our ability to control the price (we can negotiate), but the heft of their distribution channels could get it out to potentially many more people.
It’s a tough conundrum, please feel free to let us know your thoughts. Regardless, we’ll keep you updated each step of the way.
Thanks for being on this adventure with us.
