June updates

It’s been a bit longer than I intended between updates. The tl;dr is that health issues and the loss of a beloved cat sidelined me for a few months this spring, but I’m back to working on music again. I really appreciate everyone who’s been tuning in for my Modular Monday streams, having that regular time to connect with folks has meant a lot.

I have two events coming up that I hope you’ll join me for. The GSG Synthon! 6 year anniversary is happening this week, and I’m on tomorrow — Thursday 6/18 at 8:30pm PDT. I’ll be playing with a modular skiff I checked out from the synth library. (I’ve been messing around with it the last few days, this is going to be fun!)

I’m also doing my first VCV Raid stream on Wednesday 6/24, 4pm PDT. This is a neat group event where everyone is starting with the same set of modules. I’ve been trying to spend an hour every day getting to know the rack, and at this point I’ve made lots of interesting sounds but really need to focus in on turning it into a more coherent musical idea 😅

Speaking Synth Library Portland activities — I’m scheduled to be on a workshop panel about modular synth design this Saturday. It sounds like it might get rescheduled for later this summer, but if you’re local and interested you can sign up now and they’ll send an update if it changes. Should be neat to hear from everyone about how they approach things.

What is definitely happening that day is the library’s housewarming party at our new space, right by the Burnside Skatepark. The Lloyd Center space often felt cramped, and the new place has a lot more room to grow. Plus, the test equipment is easy to access now!

There’s probably something else I’m forgetting to share, but that covers the time-sensitive bits. More to come!
