A-V.J: The Text Index
Welcome to part 3 of the slow archiving process for audio-visual.journal. This time, we have a text index for entries from January to June 2024, along with study questions in dialogue with the resources that inspired this project.
Below is an index for the text included in each journal entry, mapping sets of entries to various keywords. Some notes on my process: The choice in keywords came together in layers, working first with entries that had multiple dates (for example ‘062824 / 060624’), then consulting the main page of the journal in order to prioritize potential themes. [Side note: Connecting entries & keywords was significantly more fun than just adding hyperlinks—maybe it’s something about the manual process of ‘linking’ ideas together to craft sense of multidimensionality…]

Study Questions:
What does a newsletter format have to offer in terms of re-gathering around text?
How might skills in folk internet archival work prepare us to continue gathering (our information, our selves, etc.) in worlds where practicing black study makes itself possible?

This is part 3 of 3 of the slow archival process for A-V.J; the last installment of sharing alternative ways of indexing & reading through the journal’s contents. If you’re just learning about this project, check out the previous 2 newsletters for the A-V.J Audio & Visual Indexes.
Thank you for sharing your time with my work in this corner of the virtual void. 🖤
There are various ways to support the practice of A-V.J, including generously offering one time or recurring financial contributions, and citing the newsletter when sharing something you learned from here.
