A-V.J: The Audio Index

As mentioned in my previous Note 2 Self, this week begins the process of organizing the contents of audio-visual.journal and thinking publicly about that process. This week is starting off with an alternative “reading” of A-V.J as a documentation of sound, acting as record for entries between January and June 2024.

Below is each entry that contains audio (including videos) with links to original references. In between are moments where entries were present but sound went un-recorded; scrolling through the journal would be one way to determine the length between sounds. Entries are ordered chronologically and grouped when sounds appear back to back. The intention was to represent a rhythm across the given period of time.

What I’m thinking through at this point in the process:

a) Might this gathering of sounds be representative of a mixtape methodology?

b) What does the newsletter format have to offer in terms of re-gathering around sounds?

This is part 1 of 3 of the slow archival process for A-V.J. Stay tuned for the next two newsletters which will each offer an alternative way of indexing & reading through the journal’s contents.
