Audiogames.net Monthly Digest - November 2025

Welcome to the November 2025 edition of the audiogames.net monthly digest! This issue is a big one, perhaps the biggest of the year so far! A lot of very famous games have started getting accessibility mods, which is the standout point for this month, but far from the only one. We also have a lot of new games — everything from fast-paced and slow strategic audio games, cheesy survival horror, rogue likes, RPG's, story-driven visual novels, and more! The updates section also got a lot of love, so without further ado sit by the fire, invite your friends, and happy reading!

Dream Back Legend (Windows)

Developer Xiao Jun Says: Welcome to the trial version of my game. This is a real-time combat, free-exploration single-player game. The sound effects used in the game are sourced from the internet; if any infringement occurs, please notify me. The game is primarily built using a Legend-like template, but it's completely different from the original since I've never actually played the real Legend. Also, the monster sound effects might be entirely different from Legend's, as I haven't played it and couldn't find all the sounds. So, please don't criticize inaccuracies too harshly; my capabilities are limited, and there are certainly areas that aren't perfect. If you have good suggestions, you can provide feedback to me. Let me post the group number first: if you want to suggest or discuss the game, you can join QQ Group: 485363814. The answer to the entry question is: 盲人 (Blind). Here's a brief guide on what to do when you first enter the game. First, note that to interact with NPCs, you need to be within 5 steps of them and press Enter. After entering the game, head north from your starting coordinates to find the Assistant Xiao Min. If you've moved around, you can find her at coordinates X: 33, Y: 645. First, learn about the map directions from her, then receive a starter gift pack from her. After that, interact with various NPCs in the village to find out about available quests. The game map progression from low to high level is as follows: Ginkgo Village -> Forest East of the Village -> Outside Birch City -> Natural Cave (Skeleton Cave) -> Snake Valley -> Mining Area -> Woma Forest -> Woma Temple -> Birch River & Mengzhong River -> East Sea -> Desert outside Mengzhong City -> Centipede Cave. Players can choose maps according to their strength. Important Note: In situations requiring numerical input, such as buying, selling, etc., when prompted to enter a quantity, only enter pure numbers. Do not include any extra characters, including decimal points. Otherwise, there is a risk of data corruption making the game unplayable. The Cleric's skill "Purifying Light" needs special emphasis. First, the target enemy must be within 10 steps, have HP below 50%, and the protagonist's level must be higher than the enemy's. Success rate is 50% if the level difference is 10 or more, and 25% if within 10 levels. It cannot be used on BOSSes, dungeon monsters, or homestead monsters. BOSSes include Red Boar Leader, White Boar Leader, and Pirate Leader. Leveling up Purifying Light increases the attack bonus for monsters you convert (i.e., your converted monster's attack * skill bonus). Hotkey Instructions Note: All panels can be closed by pressing the Esc key (top-left key). Ctrl + F12 opens the TTS (Text-to-Speech) settings. Home/End Keys: Adjust background music volume. Instructions for Accurate Gameplay: First, navigate to the "API" folder in the game's root directory. Enter the subfolder corresponding to your screen reader (e.g., the folder for NVDA), and copy the "API.dll" file from this subfolder. Then return to the game's root directory (the parent folder) and paste the copied "API.dll" to replace the existing file with the same name. Next, launch the game. Depending on the preconfigured shortcut keys in the game, you can configure voice support using one of the following methods: Press the Ctrl+F12 key combination to open the voice settings interface. Check the "Enable NVDA Reading" checkbox and close the settings window to complete the basic configuration. Press the Ctrl+F11 and F12 key combination to switch between screen readers and voice settings. If you have successfully replaced the API file for your screen reader (or already have the corresponding screen reader API installed), you can switch to the target screen reader and enable normal voice reading. Additionally, to ensure you can play all games released by us without issues, please obtain the Locale Emulator via the following link: xupefei.github.io/Locale-Emulator/ Regarding NVDA translation add-ons, we do not have specific recommendations. Tank Conquest (Windows)

Welcome to Tank Conquest! Game Introduction: This game is a trial version of Tank Conquest. In each chapter, you must control a tank to eliminate enemy tanks on the map and ensure your headquarters is not destroyed. Utilize various terrains and supplies to defeat all enemy tanks and achieve victory. The game features real-time combat, testing your quick reflexes and overall awareness of the battlefield. The game map is a 2D plane, a square area of 99x99 units, comprising passable areas and obstacles. Obstacles include both destructible and indestructible types. Destroying a destructible obstacle clears the way, making previously blocked areas passable. Located at the southern edge of the map (X50, Y1) is your headquarters core. You must ensure it is not destroyed by enemy or even your own fire. Your respawn point is 2 units directly north of the headquarters core. The entire headquarters is surrounded by indestructible walls, with only one-unit-wide gates at the northwest and northeast corners for you or enemies to pass through. Enemy tanks will appear in the northern part of the map and logically advance toward your headquarters to destroy it. You can use various hotkeys and map previews to familiarize yourself with the terrain, locate enemies, and identify supply distributions, enabling you to plan actions based on a comprehensive understanding of the battlefield. Your tank’s projectiles, once fired, travel in a straight line in the direction the tank is facing until they hit an object within range or exceed the maximum range. Therefore, to attack, you must align yourself with the target, ensure the distance is within range, and face the target’s direction. From the start of the challenge, enemy tanks will spawn at regular intervals. The type of tank is randomly selected from available types for that chapter. Each enemy tank has unique attributes. As you progress through chapters, the variety of enemy tanks increases, identifiable by their names. Enemies may strategically target you, the headquarters, or actively seek supplies. Observe their behavior patterns to adapt your tactics. Supplies will periodically appear on the map. Destroying enemy tanks may also spawn supplies at their location. Both friendly and enemy tanks can trigger supply effects by touching them. Supplies are categorized as follows: General Supplies: Temporarily enhance specific attributes. Special Supplies: Have unique effects, e.g., Nano Metal repairs headquarters or tank durability, Shields grant temporary invincibility to the headquarters, Quantum Eggs freeze enemy actions for a duration, etc. The game offers three difficulty levels. Higher difficulties increase enemy tank health, extend their attack range, and shorten spawn intervals. There are 20 enemy tanks in total, and you have two respawn chances (3 lives). Both sides can gain an additional respawn chance by touching a Revival Spring supply. Upon completing a chapter, you earn a skill point to upgrade one of eight skills. If you don’t wish to upgrade a skill in the current chapter, you can preview the next chapter’s skills. Allocate skill points wisely to develop a specialized tank. Explore different playstyles to discover more strategies. Additionally, after completing a chapter, you earn stars based on the difficulty level. Check your rankings and star progress in the leaderboards. Game QQ Group: 1038280090 Join the group to discuss strategies and share experiences. Final Accessible Fantasy (Windows)

Hi All, I've been working for the past few weeks on a couple of related modding projects with benefit of AI, and thought they were sufficiently far along now to make a wider post. These have been discussed for some time now in the Accessibility Disco server on Discord, where people can join to follow along with my progress and read about other players' experiences. I'm working on mods for two games in the Final Fantasy series, FF 6 and FF9. The former is the so-called pixel remaster version, and the latter uses a modding front end called Memoria. What's the state of these mods? Currently, FF9 is arguably the more mature of these mods, because the source code is fully available and I can actually see the game logic in detail. People are able to play through quite far with both mods however. I've added pathfinding and accessible navigation support, screen reading for menus and game dialogs, and new features as I or others encounter them. Just this morning I added support for controlling the airship in FF6. What are the limitations of these mods? Currently the biggest limitation is that we're limited to using the internal game names of many objects. This is more of an issue for FF6, though there are obvious ways to solve it that just involve lots of manual data entry. FF9 has the benefit of providing more meaningful map and area names already. Also, of course, not every mechanic in either of these games is accessible yet, though I think we're ~70-90% there. Like I said, people have made it at least 1/4 of the way into both of them. FF9 is arguably progressing faster because it's both easier to work with from a development perspective and what I'm personally interested in, though I try to update for both on a regular basis. I hope that people who aren't already aware of these mods will feel free to join in and ask questions, either here or on the Discord server. I'm happy to answer them, and I hope that players who have managed to play farther ahead than I have will join in as well. I'm not going to provide plot summaries of these games, as you can look them up if you want ;) They're big, sprawling JRPGs, and honestly they should have been made accessible long ago, but here we are. I'm so happy to be able to enjoy them at last.

Terraria Access (Windows)

Note that the mod is under very rapid development, so parts of this description may very quickly become out of date. For the most up to date information read the linked forum thread. Notably, some missing features such as NPC dialog reading, have already been implemented, and there is a way to launch the game with the mod enabled. With that being said, here's ChipsAhoyMcCoy:

Hey everyone, I’ve been making some pretty awesome progress on a Terraria accessibility mod. Since I have a working build at this time, I thought now would be a good time to start gathering playtesters, and developers. I’ve been using OpenAI’s GPT-5 Codex model to dive through the Terraria files and the tModLoader documentation, and it’s been an absolute powerhouse for getting this thing off the ground. I’m really proud of how far this has come in just about a week. So far, the mod can do full main menu reading, full inventory, equipment, and accessory reading, and even screen reader announcements for whatever object, tile, or interactable your smart cursor is currently focused on. If you turn smart cursor off, it’ll still read whatever tile your cursor is on, which makes building a lot easier. That said, please don’t buy Terraria solely to use this mod right now. It’s still very early in development, and while there’s a lot working, it’s not what I’d call “fully playable.” At this stage, you can gather resources, build your first home, explore underground, and mine. So there’s definitely something here to experiment with, but it’s not ready for a complete gameplay experience yet. There are two big reasons I’m posting this. First, I’m uploading the mod to GitHub tomorrow to get more eyes on the project. I’ve made a ton of progress solo with Codex, but this project could really take off with some collaboration, whether that’s more Codex users or experienced programmers from the community contributing pull requests. The second reason is that I’m looking for playtesters. If you understand that this mod is still early but want to help test and provide feedback, your input would be incredibly valuable. I played Terraria when I was sighted, so I already know the mechanics—but I need insights from players who’ve never played before, to understand what’s confusing or inaccessible from your perspective. Installing the mod is a little tricky since it uses the tModLoader API, so here’s how to do it. First, download the provided .tmod file from this link: drive.google.com/file/d/1Hm7q4l … p=sharing. Next, launch tModLoader at least once to allow it to generate all of the necessary folders and configuration files. Once that’s done, place the downloaded .tmod file into your Documents → My Games → tModLoader → Mods folder. Then copy your NVDAControllerClient.dll file into the TModLoader directory (in your Steam folder). Launch TModLoader again, go to the Workshop menu, and hit Build + Reload, and you should hear speech feedback right away. At this stage, you’ll likely need sighted assistance for the initial setup, since screen reading isn’t available on the main menu before the mod is built. Once it’s running, though, everything becomes much more accessible. This mod is focused on gamepad use for now—aiming, movement, and building are all much easier this way. I may add full keyboard support later, but for now, you’ll definitely want to use a controller. There’s currently a bug on the single-player menu: if you don’t have an existing player, the focus doesn’t land on the “New” button. I’ve been trying to fix it, but developer help would be appreciated. For now, using mouse keys is a decent workaround to move your cursor over the button manually. I’m actively working on new features every day, and things like NPC dialogue reading should be ready for testing soon. My only real limitation at the moment is Codex usage—I’m on the $20/month plan, not the $200 one—but even so, I’m still making steady weekly progress. Please don’t purchase Terraria expecting a full experience yet. This is mainly a call for developers and patient playtesters who want to help shape something great from the ground up. I’m confident about where this project is heading, especially given how much has already been accomplished in such a short time. I’ll also be posting a Codex tutorial soon in the Articles section, so those who want to learn how to use Codex for pull requests can join in. If you have any questions, suggestions, or feedback, feel free to leave them below, and I’ll check back in the morning. And again, please do not purchase this game thinking it's a full-fledged accessibility mod. This is a call to arms for fellow developers and playtesters. If you do decide to purchase and try this mod out just because you're curious, remember that Steam does offer a refund if you have not owned the game past a certain length of time, and have not played the game past a certain length of time. Friday Night Funkin' Accessibility (Windows/Web)

Hello everyone, I don't know if anyone here has played Friday Night Funkin'. Yes, I've wanted to play this game for a long time. So, when I learned that this game is an open-source project on GitHub, my friend and I decided to try making an accessibility patch for it. However, I was astonished to discover how many platforms the game supports. Therefore, to test the feasibility of accessibility, we used the JS and HTML versions. What is Friday Night Funkin'? Friday Night Funkin’ is a musical rhythm game where you compete in freestyle music battles. The father of your girlfriend is always a pain, because no matter what you do, you may never be good enough for his daughter. In Friday Night Funkin, you are the "Boyfriend", and this cliché comes together in a colorful and musical mash. The fun of Friday and the stress of meeting your significant other's father will make your knees shake and your heart tingle. WASD or arrow keys to play. and - to increase/decrease the volume. 0 to mute. Enter to select. ESC to go back. What have we done? We have now implemented output for some of the text content. You can now use screen reader software to directly read parts of the game's content. Yes, it's not perfect yet, and because it's the HTML version, you need to enable NVDA's "Live Activity Region" reading. In terms of gameplay, we've added sound effects for case prompts that require real-time feedback and button prompts that need to be mimicked. The sound effects are different, so it's playable now. Although it's not the most perfect implementation, I can now play through all the content of the entire game with it. Yes, short presses and long presses have completely different sound effects to distinguish them. If anyone is willing to try this game, please enjoy.

Toneduel (Web)

Toneduel turns spatial audio into a game of timing and positioning. Hear the ball traverse the room, feel the walls by “wind”, and use percussive cues to line up your return. Choose Easy, Moderate, or Hard, and race to 11 with three smash hits available per round. Best experienced with stereo headphones.

How to play - Goal: First to 11 points wins. - Move: A/D to slide left/right. Hold Shift to run. - Hit: Be in position and let the ball contact your paddle to return. - Smash: While stationary, tap Space just before impact to fire a faster return. You get 3 smashes per round. - Pause: P or Esc. - Modes: Easy / Moderate / Hard adjust ball speed and opponent skill. What you’ll hear - The ball: a bright, melodic voice that pans in 3D; louder = closer. - Edge & proximity safety: subtle tones warn when you drift too close to side walls or when the ball is about to collide with you. - Terrain underfoot: three floor strips (road / grass / path) speak with different percussive timbres as you move, so you always know where you’re standing. These cues follow ARIA-3D’s core mapping: stereo for left/right, loudness for distance, with percussion reserved for terrain and hazards. Why it matters Toneduel isn’t just a game; it’s a playable demo of how spatial audio can carry scene understanding: you can recognise objects, estimate their position, and react in real time – using your ears first. That’s the same principle behind our broader “listen to the view” work converting visual information into music. Tips for new players - Use headphones. Stereo is essential for precise left/right placement. - Start on Easy to learn the cadence, then step up. - Hold Shift sparingly—running helps corner shots but makes centring harder. - Save smashes for clean, centre-face contacts. - If you’re sighted, try a few rallies eyes closed to “get” the mapping. Accessibility notes - Designed to be fully playable by ear. - Clear, distinct timbres reduce masking between ball, paddle, and terrain. - Minimal visuals (wireframe arena) avoid reliance on sight; all critical state has an audio analogue. - Works in modern desktop browsers with Web Audio; use normal listening volumes. FAQ Do I need headphones? Yes—stereo matters for spatial placement. Is toneduel accessible if I don’t use the visuals? Yes. All critical information has an audio cue: ball location, wall proximity, floor strip, impact timing, and scoring. What does Space do? A timed, stationary smash—max 3 per round for a speed boost. How long is a match? Fast—first to 11. What browsers are supported? Modern desktop browsers that support WebGL and Web Audio. Safety note Use comfortable listening levels. Take breaks if your ears feel fatigued.

Rogue Keys (iOS)

Rogue Keys is a turn-based, tactical puzzle/strategy game played on a 5×5 grid where every move counts. Survive enemies, manage your limited turns, and unlock mysterious Glyphs that bend the rules of the game in surprising ways. The twist in Rogue Keys is that your powers and upgrades (as well as enemy buffs) are represented by placed keyboard keys on the board tiles. Each run is a battle of wits against the board itself. You’ll need to balance survival, score-chasing, and risk-taking, all while planning around abilities that grow more powerful the longer you play. Lenguard (iOS)

Warning: Mature, dark, unhappy ending for some

By the creators of Timecrest—Apple’s Best of 2015 and NYTimes recommended.

A new adventure awaits.

I have visited so many worlds and I want to show you them all. Though I’m afraid this one isn’t a vacation destination.

A part of me doesn’t want to expose you to this particular world, even though you’re strong. While this place has tons of new and beautiful sights to see, I've found it is also dreary and horrifying at times. Not to mention, it’s far from the world you know and what you’re used to, so I wouldn’t mind it if you skipped out.

But for selfish reasons, I’m glad you’re here. I do need your help with Lenguard and I’m beyond curious to see what you can do. Your powers are perhaps the only thing that will make a difference. So if you do choose to visit this place, it would be…a personal favor to me. :)

If you don’t know me yet, just know that I believe in you.

Of course, things still may not go our way even with your abilities. Though, since it’s you, I always have hope that fate can be changed.

Heroes of the Seven Islands (Windows, Mac, Linux)

While this game was initially posted in September, it had some outstanding accessibility issues which were addressed the next month which is why it's being featured now.

Ravalon (Web)

In the olden days of Ravalon, dragons roamed the world just as horses and other animals do to this day. In their might and haughtiness, they ruled over all for eons. Divided they were, though. In differences that we do not understand. Two clans rose to the peak of power and sought to challenge each other in their hold over the world. As mounting tensions exploded into violence, the Battle of the Red Sky was inevitable. Ravalon bore witness to the grim toll of greed; the fall of dragonkind altogether.

Now their bones lie scattered around the lands, a dark reminder of what once was. Life in Ravalon carries on, although it will never be the same anymore. The New Age has begun.

Whispering voices rumour about dragons opposed to the greed of their brethren, who fled the battle and hid in faraway lands. Could it be true… Could dragons still exist among us?

Gallop forth and wander. The sights we shall see will be grand.

WELCOME! Immerse yourself in the world of Ravalon, a new take on browser horse games! Grow your herd of horses as you explore different territories and decide what to do in encounters. What choices will you make? Are you a daredevil, or do you prefer to play it safe? As you pave your way in this enchanting world, find out if there’s some truth to old myths or if they’re just folk tales. Get to know the locals and discover what quests they have in store for you. Befriend deities, gain the trust of their familiars, and they will help you on your journey. Exciting adventures and challenges await. The story is yours to write.

Hitster (Web)

Welcome to the unofficial Hitster online card game! Here you will try to guess when a certain song was released, but don't worry, its not as hard as it sounds. Read on to find out what its all about. Features - no registration necessary, just create a game and play - play a public game to play with everyone who's currently available, or play a private game for just you and your friends - play a local game with friends and family, just like the card game, but you don't need to have the cards around - a total of 12434 hits in 49 packs available for you to guess - the original card game contains some tiny mistakes on the cards, but we fix them immediately - developed with screen reader accessibility in mind, so that sighted and visually impaired people can play together - support light and dark mode, and respect your device's settings by default

How to play the game

This is how you play the game: 1. You start the game with one randomly dealt hit card, visible to all players. Each hit card displays the name of a song, the artist and the year it was released. Some hit cards also include additional information, like a film or series the song is associated with. 2. Each round begins with the computer drawing a random hit card, nobody sees what's on it. Everyone listens to the song on the hidden hit card for 20 seconds. During your turn, you have to guess whether this mystery hit that's playing was released before or after the song on the first card you've been dealt. If you're correct about when the song was released, the hit you've identified will get added to your collection at the end of the round when its details are revealed. Your collection is always arranged in chronological order like a timeline of when hits were released, so as your collection grows, the time periods between the hits in your collection get narrower, meaning each subsequent guess you make will need to be more specific than the last. 3. During your turn, you can win a token by calling out two additional facts about the hit that's playing. Typical examples are the song title, artist, a series, film or anything else that the song is known for. Any combination of facts can win a token, so long as there are two facts you've called out and they're both true. The player that comes after you confirms the accuracy of any additional facts you've offered, awarding your token if both were correct, or denying your token if either fact can't be verified. In future rounds, tokens can be spent on intercepting other players, or skipping hits that you don't recognize. 4. After you've entered your guess at when the hidden hit was released, the other players will either agree with you, or if any other player has a different opinion, they can pay one token to intercept. Be quick with your interceptions, the first player to correctly identify when the hidden hit was released wins that card. 5. Each round ends with the hidden hit being revealed. The player who guessed correctly gets to add the hit to their timeline, with the turn player taking precedence. For example, imagine it's your turn and you guess that the hidden hit was released before 1988. Another player intercepts and guesses it was released after 1988. When the hit is revealed, it turns out it was actually released in exactly 1988. It was your turn, so you would win that card. 6. The first player to collect 10 hit cards wins the game.

Blind Survival (Windows, Linux)

Sight won’t help you in this thrilling quest to find your friends amidst a zombie outbreak that struck during your summer vacation to Gari Island. Explore with a classical First Person Shooter control scheme With intuitive game design, the world can be navigated using only sound—whether you play with mouse and keyboard, keyboard alone, or a gamepad. Interactable objects guide you with sonar cues, and environmental sounds like rivers lead you forward. Hundreds of hours have gone into building and testing navigation systems. For example: facing a wall plays a sound reminiscent of a blind person’s white cane, reflecting how canes are used to detect obstacles in the environment. Varied and immersive combat - Melee combat? Check - Stealthy assassinations? Check - All-out gunfire? Check - Repetitive? Nope Pick the approach that fits the moment—or challenge yourself for fun. Like… attracting a dozen zombies with a loud gun >:) Content - Story: A short but sweet campaign that can be replayed in different styles for many hours of memorable experiences. - Endless & Training: Two arcade-like modes where zombies circle behind you. How long will you last? - Tunnel & Scavenge: Keep moving as the horde grows—while your limited ammo becomes more precious between pickups. - Bomb Defusal: Memorize spoken sequences and input them quickly to defuse the bomb. Sharpen both mind and reflexes! - Try to clear as many challenges as you can! How many “crystals” can you obtain? - More content planned! No promises though! NVDA SUPPORT There is an NVDA mode that let's you use your own screen reader. It can: Read menus, read the current subtitles with a button press, as well as the ability to copy the current subtitles to the clipboard.

ABOUT DEVELOPER: This game was created by Noah, a visually impaired gamer who wanted to make a game that’s accessible to people with complete blindness. The game helps raise awareness of how 3D games can be navigated using only sound, and how sound can be used to create unique and fun mechanics within games.  However, the game is also designed for sighted players, offering a chance to practice and rely on their hearing, and thus experience, in a small way, what it might be like to navigate the world without sight. The project also earned second place in The Great Journey’s Summer Pitch 2021!

Il suo volto era una maschera di sangue (Windows, Mac, Linux)

_During the celebrations of an old folk festival a man is found dead inside the village’s church. All the inhabitants have something to hide. _ This is my game for Italocurso 2025. I got my inspiration from two folk Italian tales: the Badalisk and the bear from Saponara. They are two very different monsters at first sight, but they come from a similar background: every year they are ‘caught’ and brought back to the city to enjoy the festival with the town-folks and by the end of the day they are set free. Why?  - Explore the mysterious town of Montechiuso, the background of paranormal phenomena and mysterious murders.  - Original music written by myself! (coming soon on bandcamp)  - 256x239 pixels resolution, 2 colours - Classic Japanese adventure: EXAMINE, TALK, SEARCH to solve the mystery - Grandpa’s theory: after examining the clues, make your own guess… according to your answer the story might change…  - 10 thousand words, 1 ending and 5 bad endings. (More in the finished game)  - Codex included in the game with detailed insight about the legends, the characters and keyword you’ll find in the story.  -  Accessibility: CRT filter on/off, jumpscares on/off, self-voicing
