1. Whale Boat - Imposter Review

My latest story was recently published in Imposter Review. It’s about a young man building a wooden boat to hunt a whale while struggling with cultural expectations of masculinity. This story was inspired by a visit to the Wooden Boat Museum in Seattle, and is one of the first stories I wrote influenced by my new home in the pacific northwest.

I’m a fan of Imposter Review and so excited to be part of it. Go read my story, and while you’re there, check out their other work. I think you’ll like it.

2. Author Talk at Ada’s Technical Books November 20th

come say hi!

I’ll be talking with my friend Max West about my novella Performance Review (link to free pdf, link to purchase a physical print) and my work in general this Thursday November 20th at Ada’s. It’s the first time I’ve been in the hot seat instead of the interviewer, and I’m both excited and anxious. I’d love for you to come check it out.

3. Other People’s Poems December 13th

I’ll be guest reading along with Katie Lee Ellison and Dario Cvencek as part of Other People’s Poems December 13th. I don’t read a lot of poetry, so it’s been a fun exercise to expand and explore as I prepare, to see what I connect with and want to share. I hope you can make it out.

4. TRANSplants Issue 4 Pre-Order, Release Party December 20th

Come party!

TRANSplants Issue 4 is releasing in December! Pre-order the zine here! I’m so excited to get this issue out. This one is focused around the theme of sisu. Sisu is a Finnish word which has no exact translation in English, but means unflinching determination in the face of overwhelming adversity. The writing in issue four is about visceral persistence, personal struggle, bravery, setback, undaunted determination, of getting bloodied and knocked down and forcing yourself to stand back up anyway. It’s about incomplete victory earned through pain and love, and about how some of us have won recently despite the propaganda that wants us to believe we are destined to lose. It’s about living our lives and fighting for a better world that we might never see, but fighting anyway, because the alternative is spiritual death and an empty life in the service of a system that despises us.

Accompanying the writing is beautifully haunting black and white photography by Victoria Scott. The cover is a collaboration between Victoria and Madi Gali, an imaginative whimsical alternative overlaying a landscape that otherwise appears bleak.

5. Recent TRANSplants Reading Guests

We had such wonderful readings by Callum Angus and Ever Jones for October and November. You should definitely check out their work!

The reading series will resume February 2026.

Callum Angus reads from A Natural History of Transition

Ever Jones reads from Transanything

6. Upcoming Fiction

I have a story that will be published by Unlikely Stories in December. It’s called A Crow for Brunch, and is about a problematic trans woman who is trying to save a crow and generally crashing out. It’s the most explicitly trans story I’ve published, and explores the self destructive and isolating desire for acceptance.

7. Essay adapted by The Braid

I'm excited to announce that my essay published in Hey Alma last year has been adapted to the stage and will be performed December 21st in Los Angeles by The Braid.

It was really interesting to work with the director on how to change my prose for performance and I learned quite a bit. I hope to work with them again.

If you're in the area, get a ticket!
