December: New fiction, Zine Release Party, Poetry Reading

The gist:

  1. New short story, A Crow For Brunch, published in Unlikely Stories

  2. I’m reading December 13th for Other People’s Poems

  3. TRANSplants Issue 4 release party is December 20th

1. New Fiction: A Crow For Brunch

I have a new short story out in Unlikely Stories. It’s about fascism and unattainable acceptance, self inflicted isolation, and birds. It’s the most explicitly trans story I’ve written, by which I mean all of the important characters are trans women who often think and talk about trans related things. Did you know that sometimes trans women can be bad people—not in the exotic male way that occupies transphobes’ lurid imaginations, just the usual female way? Anyway, if you hate it, send your thoughts here.

You can read A Crow For Brunch here: https://www.unlikelystories.org/content/a-crow-for-brunch

2. Reading at Other People’s Poems

I’m reading poems related to Florida December 13th as part of Other People’s Poems. Should be a lot of fun, come out!

3. TRANSplants Issue 4 Release Party

December 20th is the official release of TRANSplants Issue 4! I’ve included previews of Issue 4 below. If you pre-ordered, thank you so much! I am dropping off your package today at the post office! Maybe even as you read this!

The Issue 3 release was a ton of fun last June, and I’m looking forward to doing it again. We’ll have contributor readings, an open mic, and music by Pansy. You can sign up for reminders on partiful here: https://partiful.com/e/pqBSWAYmqvFI9tknSOTp

Pansy just released a great LP and have been receiving some well earned buzz. You can check out their music here: https://linktr.ee/Pansymusic?brid=fJYkQeH9Qx7HW3rUYFhLCg

You can purchase a copy of Issue 4 here (or grab one at the release party and not pay for shipping): https://asterolsen.bigcartel.com/product/transplants-issue-4

As always, you can find updates on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/transplants_zine/

Finally, here are the awesome contributors and their work for TRANSplants Issue 4:
