1. Upcoming: trans open mic this Saturday May 3rd

please (t)read with me is this Saturday, May 3rd 5-7pm, at Charlie’s Queer Books! Featured guest will be Ebo Barton. Come out, hang out, read (out?).
2. Upcoming: June TRANSplants Issue 3 Launch Party and Open Mic
June’s event will feature the launch of TRANSplants Issue 3, along with featuring live music and readings from past contributors to TRANSplants. June’s event will be held at Pratt Fine Arts in the Central District on FRIDAY June 6th at 6:30 pm. Come kick off pride month with some trans literature and music!
3. April Recap

April’s please (t)read with me event at Common Area Maintenance was so fun! Thanks for coming with me to a new space and trying a new format.

April’s event was a music and art takeover with music by Madi G. Unfortunately Pansy had to cancel, but I look forward to having her perform soon. Victoria Scott’s photography of Seattle in duality was displayed throughout. The open mic featured readings from Max West, Caitlin Ehlers, and Aster Olsen.

4. please (t)read with me is joining with TRANSplants Zine
We all make mistakes, and my recent one was forming two separate organizations to run semi independently that are in fact—if not in legality—married. They’re the same family, and it’s time for one of them to go through a name change process (luckily zero government forms and judges involved for this one).
May’s event will be the last please (t)read with me event. Starting in June, it will rebrand as the TRANSplants Reading Series. I am stoked to announce that Caitlin Ehlers has been cajoled into helping me run the reading series. I’m also equally excited that Alana Storm is helping me with a website for TRANSplants Zine. I’ve been stretched thin between running these two organizations in addition to keeping my own writing practice, job, and life in general. I’m grateful that both of them believe in these events and have volunteered their time!
5. TRANSplants Issue 3 is at the printer
So excited for this one! A very prose heavy edition, but it’s got a short film and some great art! Pre-orders are closing soon: https://asterolsen.bigcartel.com/product/transplants-issue-3-pre-order

I’ll have another newsletter with some more personal stuff later. Thanks for subscribing and keeping in touch!
