In a simplified description, Applitools is a service to compare screenshots in visual testing. I’ve used their services and enjoyed a lot!
Recently, I found out they have a collection of courses not about their services, but many kinds of tests with different tools, for different languages and frameworks.
Built on top of ChromeDriver and WebdriverIO.
I’ve played around with it a bit in a work project together with Jest, faced issues with dialogues - there is an issue for it - but enjoyed it overall. I’ll definitely try it out more!
Moving on to mobile apps, while working on some React Native codebase recently, I had the chance to try out Detox and enjoyed it although I faced some issues along the way, especially when building for newer versions of iOS.
Codemagic has a tutorial on how to get started with it and run the tests in their platform.
It’s an alternative to Detox, with a complete different approach I must say, that I haven’t tried yet.

When testing code that deals with time, this library can come handy. Just watch out when playing with global variables.

Breaking out of the testing cycle for some highlights.
If you haven’t heard about Flutter, it’s never too late. Its 2.0 version was recently announced and I’m catching up with the changes - I have a package that needs some updates.
Back from my shameless plug, the package above enables a really cool page transition.
