[Nov 1] Rice contract close, Under-18s beat Brentford 6-4, Arteta clipping rival managers, and more
The Bottom Line
Men: Arteta says a new contract for Declan Rice is a matter of time, with the midfielder in the final two years of the deal he signed in 2023 and talks open since earlier this year. Arteta also said he is storing clips of rival managers leaving their technical areas, having been booked twice for it himself.
Women and Academy: The Under-18s beat Brentford 6-4, Vincent Joseph scoring a first-half hat-trick on his first start, for a seventh straight win. Frida Maanum could return for Sunday's WSL game with Aston Villa, and Daphne van Domselaar is close to full fitness.

Arteta says a new Rice contract is 'a matter of time'
Rice is in the final two years of the deal he signed on joining for £105m in 2023, and talks on an extension opened earlier this year. Arteta said every conversation tells him Rice wants to stay long term.
Arteta is keeping clips of rival managers leaving their technical areas
Arteta has been booked twice this season for stepping out of his area. He said he is building 'a massive storage of images' of other managers doing the same, and claimed one left the touchline 36 times in 10 minutes without a card.
Women
Team news: Maanum in contention against Villa, van Domselaar close to a return
Frida Maanum has a chance of a squad place after a quad injury, and Daphne van Domselaar is nearing fitness, though Sunday's home game with Aston Villa may come too early for her. Mariona, Agyemang, Kelly, Cerci and Reid are out.
Academy
Joseph hat-trick in a ten-goal win over Brentford for the Under-18s
Vincent Joseph scored three times before half time on his first start at this level, with Maalik Hashi adding two and Axel Donczew one in a 6-4 win. Jai Nwosu scored four for Brentford.
