I've got you supplies for your digital garden. I've built an easiest way to get started with your digital garden.
First things first - What is a digital garden?
The phrase "digital garden" is a metaphor for thinking about writing and creating that focuses less on the resulting "showpiece" and more on the process, care, and craft it takes to get there.
— Joel Hooks (My blog is a digital garden, not a blog)
It is a place where things grow.
It doesn’t have to perfect. You also share work in progress articles and thoughts with people too.
More than all, this metaphor suits the way we work in our gardens. Cleaning out the weeds, taking care of the plants, watering them, and enjoying the fruits and flowers.
This process can be the same with our blogs as well. Every plant, or every post can be not perfect. It can be in a different stage, like seedling, plant, evergreen etc. When we mention the stage they are in, visitors or reads know what to expect.
You said supplies, no?
Yes I did.
Over the weekend, I played with a thought to see if building a blog / digital garden is possible by using Github Issues as the CMS. Which means we create Issues in a Github repo, and the website is generated from it. It turned out to be possible.
This is the tweet thread with the progress I made.

(That's a thread, so you may want to open that tweet and read along.)
Or you can find a post on my, very own, garden about it - Playing GitHub Issues API for a Digital Garden
So, how can you start building your own garden in under 5 mins?
Just fork the repo - github-issues-garden, change the config, and deploy to Netlify(any other place is possible too, with a little work though).
That's all for this week.
Hit me up with links to your gardens or blogs. I'd love to roam in them!
See you next Tuesday 👋
