DreamHack, Icy Tower characters, and October dev news!

Hello there!

An eventful month has passed and it is time to reflect on everything that’s been happening.

Icy Tower

First and foremost, we revealed that we’re making a new Icy Tower game! The announcement went really well, with thousands of wishlists on Steam in just a few days. Really exciting! (And if you haven’t wishlisted yet, now is the time. :D )

Equally exciting is that we’re heading to Dreamhack, Sweden’s biggest games festival, this November. We’ll bring a playable demo for the festival’s 50 000 visitors. If you’re nearby, come by our booth in the Indie Zone to say hi and try it out!

The core game is already quite playable, but we’ve been polishing it up for the demo. Everything from adding fades, swoops, and swirls to the menus, to making sure all the sound effects are properly timed with onscreen animations. Also adding a classic arcade highscore list - maybe the best player will get a special prize? :D

We’re also giving all characters more personality with unique name logos. Leaning hard into grafitti on the art side, it has been great fun designing tags for everyone.

Can’t have a robot with no name!

We’re still searching for the perfect name for the robot character. Got an idea that feels retro, street, and robotic? Hit reply and let us know, it might make it into the game!

What about picoCAD 2?

Even if most of the development time has gone elsewhere, picoCAD 2 is still very much alive. Testers are finding the last few bugs in the current build, and once Dreamhack is over I should be able to pick up the last few bits. All in all it is pretty much feature complete apart from a marquee tool for the texture editor, and a lot of refinement for the animation system. So, no release this year, but hopefully early 2026!
