Say hello to NotePlan widgets on iOS and macOS Sonoma! You can now see your daily tasks at a glance. This update to NotePlan also comes with brand-new app icon options!
iOS & macOS WIDGETS — See your daily tasks on your iPhone home screen and macOS desktop
We’re incredibly happy to introduce a much-requested feature: widgets! You can now see your daily open tasks right on your home screen. Tasks marked as important (`!`, `!!`, `!!!`) will automatically appear at the top. You can choose from 3 widget sizes (small to large) to display as much or as little as you want to. And there’s more! If you’re running macOS Sanoma, you can display your iOS widgets on your macOS desktop, too.
Please note that the widget only updates/syncs each time you open up the app, which is an iOS limitation for every app.
SHINY NEW APP ICONS — It’s a calendar! It’s a note-taking app! It’s a task manager!
We love the big bold NotePlan asterisk (that’s the `*`!) but for some users, it may not be obvious what NotePlan does. So we’ve designed a new icon that better reflects the idea of a calendar, notes app, and to-do app in one. There’s even a white and an orange version! Check them out under Preferences → Themes! P.S. The old icons are always available too: the choice is yours!
IMPROVED
- Voice transcription now works with the iPhone or iPad screen turned off (and in your pocket if you want so)
FIXED
- Fixed unresponsiveness when a note contained a lot of events
- Fixed crashes on Intel Macs
- Fixed 7-Day view crashes
- Fixed adding code blocks with other content below stripped links from their URLs (typing the three backticks will add a full code block now)
- Fixed resetting AI requests automatically (they reset when you sent a request after the month changed)
- Fixed calendar permissions on macOS Sonoma (permissions are now split between *Write Only- and *Full Access- on Sonoma)
If you like this update, you can support us independent developers by leaving a rating or even a review. Thanks!
BetterTouchTool - Save time with custom actions
Version: 4.316 released on November 03
- Fixed an issue where some functions did not work correctly after "Wake From Sleep"
- Similar to the "Find Image On Screen & Move Mouse" actions, there are now three new actions "Find Text On Screen", "Wait For Text To Appear On Screen", "If Text Visible On Screen". These can make it easier to automate some things without scripting.
- Added new triggers in "Automations, Named & Other Triggers". The new "Ambient Light" triggers allow you to run actions when the light in your environment changes. (E.g. send your Mac to sleep when you turn off the light)
- Advanced trigger conditions now have "currentminute", "currenthour" and "current_day". With this you can make triggers only work at specific time ranges.
- Key sequences got much more powerful - they now come with two new options.
- Only trigger if no other key is recognized for a certain amount of time. This allows to trigger different actions for sequences that start with the same sequence. E.g. the key sequences "h", "he", "hel", "hell" and "hello" could all trigger different actions.
- require the key sequence to have a minimum duration.
- Only trigger if no other key is recognized for a certain amount of time. This allows to trigger different actions for sequences that start with the same sequence. E.g. the key sequences "h", "he", "hel", "hell" and "hello" could all trigger different actions.
- BTT can now differentiate between left/right modifier keys and keyboard type even if secure input mode is active.
- Added scripting functions pastetext and setclipboard_content
- Added new trigger "Active App Did Change". Also the existing "Specific App Did Launch/Terminate/Activate/Deactivate" can now trigger on every app launch/termination etc. not only for specific apps.
- Added control flow predefined action "Wait For Change Of Focused Window". This can be helpful to wait until an app becomes really active.
- The "Find Image On Screen" action, can now search for different images depending on system light/dark mode.
- Fixed an issue where BTT's scripting capabilities for the integrated webviews didn't work on some webpages.
- Fixed an issue that caused the BTT preferences window to appear randomly on some specific system configurations
- Fixed an issue with copying & pasting actions
- Fixed an issue related to advanced trigger conditions (mousepospercent_y)

ClearVPN - Use an intuitive VPN
Version: 2.4.0 released on October 31
Spooky update time! In the improbable case you were going to find our office, come to our door and shout, “Trick or treats!” (please don’t, it’s creepy), we have prepared a bag of treats for this release.
We mostly focused on iOS updates this time, so do check them out if you use ClearVPN on your mobile device!
Here’s what we have for you:
- Widgets are here! Many of you asked for them, and we heard you. ClearVPN will now always be at your hand. If you have iOS 17, then you’ll be able to connect to the last used VPN mode right from the ClearVPN widget on your lock or home screen. If your iOS version is older, you’ll be able to open the ClearVPN app from the home screen widget and then connect to the preferred mode. All this means your device is going to be one step closer to safe browsing.
- We fixed a VPN connection issue that some of you told us about – it’s all clear now.
- Lots of little interface tweaks and fixes: lists, menu options, and buttons should work just fine across the app.
That’s it for now. If you’ll have any feedback on widgets, please do let us know via app feedback form in the settings.
Take care!
