Weekly API Evangelist Governance (Guidance)
Let’s give a big Monday shout out to our documentation partner Theneo and our SDK partner APIMATIC. API Evangelist storytelling occurs because of Theneo and APIMATIC, and I am thankful to have their support for this exciting ride!
I had to slide the big steel door shut on the wind tunnel that is LinkedIn. I am still publishing stories there and checking my DM’s once or twice a week, but the signal to noise ratio has diminished so greatly I just can’t find any storytelling nutrients there. I am just keeping my head down and responding to questions I get from people I know and are working with in some capacity.

Providing a simple API governance editor for OpenAPI and Spectral is proving to be a safe place for enterprises to learn about API governance as I work to map the existing API landscape using evidence gathered from the API gateway. This landscape provides an excellent opportunity for enterprises to establish a baseline for inline guidance to be layered on top of OpenAPI using a simple API governance editor.

I spent a lot of time questioning APIs this week as I ask myself what has changed since that first blog post on the API economy in 2010, and I feel like it is important to state that the current climate of business and politics is diminishing the potential of APIs as the next iteration of the web.
As AI rhetoric takes the business of APIs to new heights I felt it is important to highlight there are reasons APIs were the menu. In this AI “easy button” mindset we find ourselves in I feel compelled to highlight that there is no single approach or tool for API governance. Make sure you spend time outside of the wind tunnel listening to your API voice and not the API noise, and remember, there are so many things you can improve around your APIs without measuring.

Make sure you take time off social media and the Internet this week. Make time to go out in the world and make some human connections. It matters. It matters a lot.
If you need API Evangelist to help out with API governance please let us know how we can help. And thank you again to APIMATIC and Theneo for their continued support. If you are interested in sponsoring our work and site please review out sponsorship package, and drop me an email today.
