A short one this week as my cup runneth over.
First up, some more Beautiful Canvas.
Ryan has set up a Tumblr for the comic and he's currently posting various bits over there on a pretty regular basis. There's process talk, spotlights on the creative team and links to interviews about the book.
Speaking of, here's a
new one over at Broken Frontier you should read.
Secondly, I wanted to highlight some Kickstarter projects I've recently pledged to that you'll probably dig too.
Ink Island is an all ages comic one shot by Ryan K Lindsay. The book has already reached its goal with 4 days to go. If you work in the education field then you should definitely take a look. There's a study guide included too dispensing advice on how to teach comics in the classroom from a guy who's walked the walk.
I've mentioned Ganzeer before in the newsletter. His webcomic The Solar Grid is now being collected into both digital and hardcover formats and he has a Kickstarter
currently running to make that a reality. Ganzeer is around halfway funded with 10 days to go.
Lastly, Hansel Moreno is currently trying to bring
Galahad and the Far-off Horizon to life. He's currently fully funded with 3 days to go. Click through to the link and tell me you don't want to wallow in that beautifully-realised world. I can't wait to read this, it looks unlike anything else out there.
Thirdly, here are some links (I told you it was a short one this week).
- John Milius on
not adhering to the typical act structure of the screenplay.
- Another piece, this time from IndieWire, on why
story structure guides don't work.
- Harpers on the
human network behind the Snowden leaks.
- Cormac McCarthy on the
origin of language.
- Jessica Abel on
idea debt and the notion that old projects you never pulled the trigger on are holding you back.
Happy
St. George's Day everyone!
