May punk listings out now - plus Discord, again
Hello, paper punks.
Hope your International Workers’ Day was a tremendous one, or at least you managed to do fuck all in front of the bad screen. This month’s listings are Out There right now - in the post for the Patreon lot, across the city over the next few days and the grid of gigs is online now: go to anothersubculture.co.uk to download and subscribe.
This month’s paper:
Lots of fun things this month including this year’s First Timers (where every band plays their first set, and a festival that presented bands like Big Joanie, Whitelands, Primetime and many more to the world…), the second Necropolis and the latest Ivy House Beer Fest and all sorts from the usual promoters - over 60 events this time around for you to circle and get a headache at.
Get a copy in print to read my interview too with Lambeth Mutual Aid, as they bolster their Solidarity Fund - payments to people who really need it without any questions or assumptions - with some fundraising gigs at the Cavendish Arms, the next one taking place this Saturday night. I also go a little into how much gigs are (recurring theme, of course…) R.Aggs is on the cover this month; they continue to build up an arsenal of synth-lead dance post punk bangers and I’d love to see another tape out soon!
Are you a Cyber punk:
I made a quick Discord channel during the pandemic to chat to friends and share ideas, and last month on a complete whim I decided to resurrect it. Might last, might not, but the continuing desire to divest from Meta continues.
The invite link is https://discord.gg/wVTfFZwF and you should put your gig flyer in there, basically. Enjoy!
Don’t forget too: if you have a punk/noise/hardcore/experimental/D-I-Y gig happening in London, send it to DIY Listings London, London Sound Index and Eroding Empire.
That’s all for now, except to say that I have pencilled a Saturday in November at a familiar pub, suggestions welcome, I’m attempting something.
