December's DIGITAL LISTINGS out now - thank you for a Good Weekend
Hello, paper punks.
Hope everyone is keeping warm, keeping busy and plotting all sorts of nonsense for the festive season. I slept for two days after the big weekend and then took part in a powerlifting competition, which is something I did not think I’d be saying this time last year, cor blimey.
December’s issue is out now - a heads up that this one is online only; got caught up in Attempting Something and figured I’d concentrate on resting up and working out what I want to do with Another Subculture in 2025. More of the same with a little more planning, I reckon, plus a bit more Journalism and getting mates involved (is this you, give me a bell, etc).
Needless to say, there’s about 60 events on the calendar still - lots of gigs, a fair few Christmas all dayers and parties, some afternoons to load up on presents and the usual suspects on New Year’s Eve. (There is thankfully fuck all between December 23rd-28th unless something pops up short notice, so do get some time to recharge and check out some of the records you might have missed…)
Download it at anothersubculture.co.uk or on Patreon (if you are subscribed there I’ve paused it until January so we’re all saving on postage!)
I’ll be back before the end of the year to update on where the profits from Attempting Something are going: it was a fantastic, hectic, life affirming weekend of Good Noises and some incredible sets including a blissful night of noise at Spanners, noise and bangers at the Avalon Cafe (with my eternal gratitude to Lula and Linsey of Sublux for sorting out karaoke after some last minute circumstances!) and one heck of an all-dayer at the Ivy House too.
I am very pleased to say that the weekend took a profit, so once I’ve paid all the invoices, get deposits returned and the final figure is ready I will be dividing it all between Free Kitchen Gaza and Medical Aid for Palestinians; receipts will be posted on social media and of course I implore you to donate to both of these causes, especially as winter sets in in Gaza. I would also recommend you support Palestine Action in the coming weeks or months.
That’ll do for now. For more punk activity - give DIY Listings London and Eroding Empire a bookmark, and I’ve been enjoying the webzine See-Saw recently too; I’m also actually using Bluesky after/despite the Eternal September moment and everyone finally piled in from X. Would like to follow more music accounts and less people yelling at headlines from newspapers, go find me there.
Cheers, take care, We Will Win, Merry Christmas - B P / A S
