Trinity Sunday Worship 5/26

Trinity Anglican Church 929 11th St, Marysville, CA

Dear Church,

Tomorrow is Trinity Sunday!

This is our patronal day (the namesake of our church), so it is a special day unique to our church, and those who share our name/patron. If you have time and inclination (given the late notice), bring an extra snack or drink to share after service (yes, we have a second feast Sunday after Pentecost). Technically, it is a single feast as it ends the Octave of Whitsuntide (or the week celebrating Pentecost).

Some small, expected changes I wanted to announce last Sunday, but was unable to because of a family emergency:

  • We are switching to a new booklet format.
When Fr Victor retired, Deacon Martha volunteered to administrate the worship guides. She asked to step back from this and we agreed on Pentecost being the transition point. Please be sure to thank her for her faithful service!

  • For Trinitytide, that is, the season following Trinity Sunday (the “Long Green Season” as Fr Jim called it), we will be using a single, reusable communion liturgy booklet, with the per-Sunday lessons and songs printed separately.

    • If you are joining over Zoom, you can read along here.

    • The long term link to view our liturgy booklet is here: https://trinity.anglican.center/liturgy/

Reminders:

June 4th @ 3pm. Our bishop, the Rt Rev. Dr Eric Menees, will be visiting along with a few clergy from our deanery for the formal institution of a new rector (me), which will include Holy Communion.

June 6th @ 6pm. We will be starting an 8-week class on the basics of the Anglican Tradition, which will start with a traditional Evening Prayer, a short talk, discussion and fellowship. Planning to end no later than 8pm.

I will be on retreat this week. I will have limited availability this coming week. After my normal days off, I am taking a short retreat to a monastery for prayer and reflection. I do not expect to have reception or WiFi. For any emergencies, reach out to Deacon Nancy or our Wardens.

Blessings,
Fr Jonah ☩
