Notes for the Sunday within the Octave of Epiphany

Sunday within the Octave of Epiphany (The Baptism of Christ), January 11th
- Lectionary Chart (for our readings) can be found here: trinity.anglican.center/lectionary
Other Announcements:
- For Epiphany season we are using the Anglican Standard Text in the traditional language and classical ordering, which is following the Prayer Book pattern of the 17th-20th century. Some of the classical language is different than the Ecumenical (Renewed Ancient). Please see this essay by C.S. Lewis, Miserable Offenders, for more about the phrases in the traditional text.
- Note that I can be reached for emergencies on my cell or over email, but with the arrival of our newborn, I am not presently scheduling meetings. If you have need for visitation, including reserve sacrament, or have prayer needs, please reach out to Deacon Nancy.
- Annual Meeting is after service on January 25th
- Events as they are added will be at https://trinityanglican.net/#calendar
Kelman family update:
Thank you all so much for your support as we welcomed baby Declan into our family! We can't wait for you to meet him!
Rachel will be returning to church after a period of recovery, which is historically 40 days after birth. This is an ancient practice in the church and is found in the Prayer Book. For more on this, please read my essay What is the Churching of Women, or “Thanksgiving of Women after Childbirth”? Lord willing, we will have a churching liturgy Sunday Feb 1st, the eve of The Purification of Saint Mary the Virgin (Candlemas).
Declan's baptism is slated to be Sunday, Feb 8th!
Blessings,
Fr Jonah +
