Readings for the Fourth Sunday in Lent
Homily from Lent 3: The Third Sunday in Lent
This week:
Deacon Nancy is leading our Evening Prayer and Soup Supper Thursdays @ 6PM
This is a contemporary, casual Evening Prayer, which includes reading of scripture and discussion as we meditate on the word. With Soup!If you are interested in bringing Soup, we have signups at the table in the parish hall. We are also in need of sign-ups for Sunday Coffee Hour.
A note on language and the liturgy:
You have no doubt noticed during Lent that we have been using Ecclesiastical English, or Liturgical English, which has been the primary use of the prayer books before 1979, and found also in Traditional Language Edition of the 2019 BCP. One benefit is the distinction between first and second person pronouns. This means that some phrases apply to you individually, as well as corporately. The “Body of Christ, given for thee” (you specifically) and “Have mercy upon you; pardon and deliver you from all your sins” (all the people to whom the declaration is directed: “all those who with hearty repentance and true faith turn unto him.”).
