Readings for June 8, the Sunday after Ascension: Genesis 11:1-9 ; Acts 2:1–11 ; John 14:15–31a
Pentecost Sunday Potluck! We will have a potluck on June 8th! Plan to bring a dish to share!
Liturgical color is Red, for the flames of the Holy Spirit if you wish to be festive!
Some Anglican history: Pentecost Sunday, also called Whitsunday, is the Sunday in which the English church, under the leadership of Archbishop of Canterbury Thomas Cranmer, chose to release the Book of Common Prayer, first celebrated throughout the British Empire on Whitsunday, June 9, 1549.

Nelson Mowry peacefully departed this life on the morning of Memorial Day, May 26. Please be praying for Nancy, and the Mowry family and friends as they mourn their loss.
From the 1928 Book of Common Prayer:
“[We] bless thy holy Name for all thy servants departed this life in thy faith and fear; beseeching thee to grant them continual growth in thy love and service, and to give us grace so to follow their good examples, that with them we may be partakers of thy heavenly kingdom.” (p.74)
Requiem Mass will be on Wednesday, June 11 at 10:00AM; Our bishop, the Rt Rev. Eric Menees, will be the celebrant.
