This Monday I slept on a beach near Lymington after drinks with a friend. I saw the most amazing sky full of stars and listened to the birds before going to sleep and then again when waking up. I then made myself a two coffees in the morning, ate my porridge with my driving license (forgot my spoon) and then eat a double Greggs. Nothing has quite topped that since…

First and Final Frames
What can we learn by examining only the first and final shot of a film? This video plays the opening and closing shots of 55 films side-by-side. Some of the opening shots are strikingly similar to the final shots, while others are vastly different--both serving a purpose in communicating various themes. Some show progress, some show decline, and some are simply impactful images used to begin and end a film.

Electric vehicles aren’t the answer
And reminds me of one of my favourite graphics. A traffic jam image shown twice with 'petrol cars' and 'electric cars' underneath each image. The penultimate paragraph really hits the nail on the head!

I loved this article. So weird. But also appreciate his principles!
Koda is a monopolist, of a sort, but he’s no Jeff Bezos. Best Electronics has no virtual shopping cart, or any other Amazon-esque conveniences. The store’s website looks the same as it has since the early 2000s: it’s a lengthy, multicoloured text scroll, as if Jack Kerouac quit the novel-writing business (but not the benzedrine) and started typing about Atari.
