Hello,
Am I running out of things to say here? A bit. But let’s try anyway. Summer appears to be giving us another go this week but there’s a wee chill in the air but hopefully you were able to enjoy the warm this week. I’m sat in the park and trying to make the most of it. Ahh yes, the weather, very good Andy. An abundance of interesting things to share this week but here’s the top ten from the Simplenote list. If you loved or hated anything do let me know by hitting reply up there somewhere. 👆🏼
All cats are grey in the dark
So perfect (even if you don’t like cats).
Via Nino.
The cats accompany him everywhere: to the bar, to the grocery store, to the ski slopes. As we watch their relationship unfold, the trio builds a world that’s exclusively and intimately theirs alone — a reminder that families are whatever we make them out to be. All that defines them is love.
Ogmios is back
Episode three doesn’t disappoint. I really savoured every moment of this one. Literally pouring with joy. Love you Ogmios! Make sure you watch episodes one and two if you’ve not already seen them. The rap at the end of this one is wonderful. (Maxed out my superlatives I think).
Boundaries are frickin’ important
May resonate with you, maybe not. Via JaneyB.
When you browse Instagram and find former Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott's passport number
Can you hack this man? Turns out the answer is yes in this amusing account of just how easy it is with this type of info. I particularly enjoyed the below quote:
This particular former PM had just posted a picture of his boarding pass on Instagram (Instagram, in case you don’t know it, is an app you can open up on your phone any time to look at ads).
How do you actually get infected with COVID?
Spoiler: Wear a mask. Don’t bleach your shopping.
I’m not saying that you can’t get it, that it’s impossible to get it from surfaces, but a very specific set of events have to occur for that to happen.
Paste text without formatting
This shortcut changed my life, especially making this email each week and grabbing snippets of text off them web. Instead of using Command+V, you can press Option+Shift+Command+V... You’ll thank me later.
Nuclear submarine decommissioning images
Niche interest content for sure but look at all those pipes! Essentially lots of 3D cutaway diagrams but in real life not in a Dorling Kindersley book.
Sweet camera skills bro
This video surfaces every now and then online and it’s always worth watching. Funny how your brain so often doesn’t have chance to think about how shots are made in cinema.
Extinction Rebellion 'go floppy' when arrested, complains senior Met officer
One of Britain’s most senior police officers has launched an angry tirade against Extinction Rebellion protesters going “all floppy” when they get arrested.
Hard not to laugh at this really.
Making a film preset from out of date film
Small problem. The film hasn’t been made in ten years and the chemistry no longer exists. Not a problem for the talented folk at VSCO.
That’s all for this week. If you like what arrives in your inbox each week maybe you could send on the subscribe link to someone else who might enjoy?
Hope you have a peaceful and relaxing weekend whatever you’re doing.
Love as always,
Andy x
