Occasional links - 16.01.2021
Hello,
Woosh as another week leaves us never to be seen again. Or maybe it was more a slow scraping of metal noise as something falls off a vehicle on a motorway. <Stop with the metaphors Andy, you’re not good at them and we’ve talked about this a few times now>.
Not much news again this week in the world so I will resort to talking about the weather. It’s lashing it down here and can’t wait to get out there and do all my errands by bike in the rain. I’m still sad we didn’t get any snow but love seeing pics of friends having fun in it in the north, there has to be some benefit to not being in London I guess (don’t @ me). I’m even more sad I don’t live near the South Downs for my local exercise during lockdown 3.0, but never mind. I’m off to collect a re-sprayed frame today from some pals and will enjoy rebuilding that, not doing it properly, then taking it to the bike shop to sort. Thanks as ever Seabass Cycles. The 50 best albums of 2020
Lots of great reminders in here about the music you may or may not have seen last year. I’d missed quite a few. I really miss the days of listening to music all day whilst drawing in CAD with seemingly not a care in the world.
The biggest story not being told
Ok, it’s about online advertising so maybe not that interesting but the figures and wastage (cash) involved are quite something. Especially when you choose not to spend it. It also reminds me of my good friend Vaughan and his “Talk to me about affiliate marketing” T shirt from 2007. RIP that amazing T shirt.

Fairly long article from Wired but kind of fascinating about two opposing view points on technology and its role in a civilised society. This quote early on in the article amused me.
