Hello,
Perhaps I've missed the morning coffee slot this week but hopefully you'll still enjoy ten links from me.
Ten demolished buildings you would have loved
A Twitter thread format has been doing the round amongst the architectural glitterati this week - ten loved and ten hated buildings. I found this one of the more interesting ones.
Six months of pandemic photography
I try and stay away from too much current affairs here but this photo set is worth your time. Imagine waking up from a coma into this?
Architecture and the bicycle
I remain a super-fan of Charles and his work but this one was even more pleasing than usual. And even more so seeing people enjoying bicycles...
As someone incapable of abstract exercise – that is exercise for its own sake – cycling is the perfect answer. Every ride has an ulterior motive which is normally to seek out and discover a building or a place that I am interested in.
Fostering red squirrels in Sweden
Initially sad but ultimately joyous Twitter thread from Dani who looked after four baby red squirrels. Also this
video interview is pretty special and she's an incredible wildlife photographer. Thanks
Nicola.
What happens to public spaces when everything moves outside
Making room for social distancing on the street.
Beach shaming Britain
Why we need better access to land in the UK and why the crowding of beaches is merely a symptom of poor accessibility to the wider countryside.
Evelyn Hofer
I wasn't previously aware of his incredible photography but found via this
Tweet which is just such a perfect image.
Niall McDiarmid
Talking of amazing photography... and one of the most talented photographers out there. You really should be following his work. I've just purchased his latest book
Shore. You can't beat really good printed photography.
July 4th Blade Runner
What do you do if you have aerial footage of LA with fireworks being set off all over the city and you're a video editor with access to the Bladerunner soundtrack...
Socialist Modernism
Weird and wonderful concrete. You should be following.
See you next week,
Love as always
