things i consume: Issue #2 July 2019
Welcome to A Most Unreliable Narrator, the slice-of-life newsletter of GenXer around town, Lisa Rabey. I talk about anything and everything with a bit of swears. I’m glad you’re here.
I did not miss June! I realized when I sent out the first issue, I had the wrong month so July it is!
If you're a fan of irreverant, chatty, hilarious guests talking about life, love, and the pursuit of happiness, may I suggest David Tennant Does A Podcast With...? Hosted by David Tennant, you may know him as the 10th Doctor on Doctor Who or recently as Crowley in Good Omens (currently on Amazon Prime). His interviews feels like David and his guest are just chilling having tea or a drink and talking about life. Guests have included Michael Sheen, Olivia Colman, Jon Hamm, Catherine Tate, Krysten Ritter, and more.
If you're like me and dig subway maps where the stops are fantastical things, you may enjoy this ancient map of Roman roads treated like a subway map. (Here's one of a literary tube map of London; one on things Harry Potter; Doctor Who, Monty Python, and more!)
I got into rosé wine only recently (and current favorite incarnation is Angry Orchard's Rosé Cider) but now when I buy wine, regardless of season, rosé is pretty much it. I also happen to like music, a lot, so just in time for summer when I found out that NPR has "Roséwave" playlists on Spotify, I was pumped. If you're looking for great music to spend your summer with, it's here covering everything but pop songs to yacht rock to deep cuts.
Keanu Reeves is the internet's boyfriend and he is blissfully unaware. Hey Keanu, call me!
My birthday was June 12 and my co-workers decorated my cube. I have never felt so grateful in eons. (This does not take away from TEH buying me Cornishware but it is a close call.)
I did my first Color Run! Don't get too excited, I walked, not ran. But that in itself was a magical feat since my back had been twingeing like crazy for the last few months and I couldn't walk more than a few blocks without it start being an asshole. Anyhoo, thoroughly enjoyed it. Got my first bib and medal and now I'm all about the medals and walking 5Ks. The goal is to do at least one a month and get in an 18-minute walking mile. I currently walk about 21 minutes/mile. I'm all about the pretty medials. Apparently, these races are an industry unto itself. I keep finding virtual races like Yes.Fit and Rebel Run. I'm so stoked, I bought this t-shirt.
Veronica Mars is now on Hulu! Yessireebob, our favorite teenage sleuth series is now streaming in preparation for the fourth season coming out on July 26. All I've got to say is #LoVe better remain standing. The Veronica Mars movie, which came out in 2014, is currently streaming on HBO.
This month seems a little light but it's been a hard few weeks. See you next month!
