Issue #37 The Gratitudes 76 - 100
Welcome to A Most Unreliable Narrator, the slice-of-life newsletter of GenXer around town, Lisa Rabey. I talk about anything and everything with a bit of swears. I’m glad you’re here.
I am (still) hungover.
I spent the weekend with one of my BFFs and we ended up at a strip club Saturday night with a few romantic interests (hers) while I spent the night Margret Mead-ing it up as the anthropologist of the night. While beers and shots were sent my way, I talked to the strippers about their interests, goals, and aspirations. I also got a lap dance and twerking buttcheeks in my face. It was a delightful night. A++ would do it again.
I have it in my planner to do the bi-monthly update this week so I'll drop more science on what's happening on my end then. Before I do the final list of gratitudes and things that make me happy, I want to pat myself on the back for completing the challenge I set for myself of writing and posting 30 poems to my poetry site. (Truth be told, I really want to change the name again because it's no longer jiving with me). Here is a poem I wrote the other day
red light
train in the distance
money
a knock on the door
Background: TEH and I traveled by train throughout our honeymoon in Europe and on our way from Brussels to Amsterdam, we saw a lot of red lights flash by on homes and townhouses by the railroad tracks. This is where we learned that red lights were signals they were brothels/sex workers and usually were kept on the outskirts of town by the train tracks. (TBH, that poem needs some cleaning up.) That is your history lesson for the day.
Today marks the last 25 gratitudes and things that make me happy. Thaks for humoring me. When I first posted these a few years ago, I had a few requests for a full list as prompts and inspirations. That is here. I will be more than likely put together a new list and post it over to Effing Mindful in the near future. If I do, I'll make sure to update it here.
