Joy is not made to be a crumb*
Yesterday, I had the best day. You don’t get details, but suffice to say, my heart is happy. And that’s such a good feeling.
This morning, I am having coffee and just letting that happy feeling settle in to my bones. (There is also a purring cat.)
In the spirit of this, let me share some more good things.
Last week, I got to announce my poem, “I, Robot,” is a Rhysling award finalist. (Fun fact: I have been mispronouncing that for years. I will not tell you how.) I’m super excited about that! It’s an absolute honor, and there are so many wonderful poems nominated. What a privilege!
Harrison Ford gave a banger of a commencement speech in Arizona.
I got to announce my book launch in July with Inkwood Books. (You can also preorder a signed copy from them (add personalization in the Instructions/Comments box during checkout), even if you’re outside the U.S. In that case, email them, and they’ll get you sorted!)

The Supreme Court did the right thing and “ruled that a widely used abortion medication could continue to be prescribed by telehealth and sent to patients by mail.” (That’s a gift link.)
I’ve got a new poem coming out next week at Small Wonders! It’s been a delight to work with those fine folks again, and I’m so excited for y’all to read “When Death Comes, Look to The Tower.”
Until next time, darlings, may you find sweetness and joy and laughter amid the mess of life. May you find your spirits lifted and lift those of others. May you remember that your heart is the best compass, and that those who love us, love us as we are.
XOXO
*The incomparable poet Mary Oliver
