Curses and Snakes
Curse Match
Last week, I floated the idea on Bluesky of hosting a falling block game jam, and people seemed really into it! So we’ll be doing that in September. More word on that soon if you are interested.
Then I thought it might be nice to make an example project in Pico-8 people could play with, and I started to whip one up. Soon I had some fun ideas, and in a sort of hyper productive fugue state I accidentally made a game called Curse Match.

The concept is that, instead of getting faster each level, you choose a curse that is applied to the rest of the run. It makes for some interesting variation between play sessions. You can play it for free in your browser on itch. Folks can also throw down a few bucks for a download to support further development.
Serpentes
If you are looking for something else to play, I highly recommend Serpentes: 10th Anniversary Edition from Punkcake. At first I thought it was pure madness, but as I began to understand how the unlocks on the right side of the screen function, the genius of the game was revealed to me.

The game effectively turns your ability to split your attention into a precious resource that runs out as the action gets more intense. It’s a little like trying to text while driving in a rally race. The background music is also a banger that I find myself putting on repeat just to hype myself up in the morning.
That’s all for now!
