January at All Saints: New year, who dis?

Got this forwarded by a friend? Hey! We’re All Saints, a young Episcopal church in Amsterdam centred around radical inclusion and reconcilliation. Come join us for a service and good food every Sunday at 6 at Vrijburg.

Hey super star,

Happy new year — you’ve made it! To 2026, yes, but also through the holidays. Whether your season was marked by joy, grief, exhaustion, delight, or all of the above, we’re glad you’re here for another update from All Saints Amsterdam.

There’s something hopeful about this moment. Ordinary days return, along with their familiar rhythms. After a season so full and eagerly anticipated, January gives us space to notice where we actually are. Resisting the familiar “new year, new me” urge, may we begin not with doing, but with being — clothing ourselves, as today’s reading of Colossians 3 reminds us, with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, and letting the peace of Jesus take the lead.

If you’ve been in the loop these past few months, you know that a few things have shifted in our community these past months. Kyle took a leave of absence in September, Mpho resigned from her post in December, and as a community, we were granted the opportunity to take a good look at ourselves and ask a few radically candid questions:

  • Do we still want to be a church if our founder has left? Absolutely.

  • Do we still want to be an Episcopal church? Oh, yes!

  • Why? To rest and recharge in the diverse, inclusive, justice-rooted, liturgically familiar theology, and warm and inviting community that is All Saints.

This season has invited honest reflection and real change. And there is good news ahead. This newsletter is about what’s next — so if you’re eager to gather with us in January, keep reading.

One of our hopes for 2026 is that we’ll become a more community-led congregation, which means we’d love for you to get involved! Come ask your questions, share your concerns, and suggest your ideas.

Sun Jan 18: Evening prayer with a twist

On this Sunday we’ll do our standard evening prayer, but we won’t just be reading Scripture! If you’re excited to weave ancient texts with the things we read, listen to, and watch in our everyday lives, come join us on the 18th.

And bring a friend, especially if they’re not so sure about church but still can’t stop asking you questions about All Saints.

Sun Jan 31: cook-in with and for undocumented humans

We're teaming up with our friends from the Catholic Workers movement to cook with and for undocumented people in the Netherlands, and you’re welcome to participate!

We admire the Catholic Workers for their commitment to simplicity, hospitality, prayer, and direct action, and we love the opportunity to help them create a safer space for people in difficult circumstances.

There are limited spots available to participate in cooking, but we very much welcome any donation you may want to make to our groceries budget for that day. Make a donation using the description "Cook-in" (link to our donation page), and we will use 100% of that money on groceries.

Wanna see All Saints continue to thrive?

  • 🤝 Do a thing: want to lead evening prayer, help build our online platform, join a city cleanup brunch, make music, or read Scripture? You can! (And let’s face it, given how awesome you are, you should.)

  • 🙋🏽‍♀️ Organise a project: we currently rely heavily on grants, which are difficult to get. Offering meaningful projects that serve the community makes it all a little easier.

  • 😎 Officially join the club: as a member of All Saints, your impact on our future can be more profound. It shows us why being here for you is relevant. Sign up next time you’re at church. Alternatively, 👉🏽 download this form, fill it out, bring it by.

  • 🤓 Bring a friend: we love welcoming new faces, hearing their stories, and sharing a way of doing church they may not have seen before.

  • 🤲🏻 Contribute monthly: your financial support helps us pay our pastors and build fellowship. If you’re able, consider setting up a monthly donation to All Saints. Our details are right here. Don’t forget, we have ANBI status!
