The Feast of the Visitation is on Friday, and fittingly enough, we are receiving a visitation from Bishop Mark this weekend. So please come to church on Sunday! A couple people have asked what they can do to help, and the main thing really is to come if you possibly can, or say prayers for us if you can’t. This isn’t about impressing the boss. All Saints is always impressive because we always are whatever God draws out of us on any occasion. What it’s about is one of the ways the whole Episcopal church blesses each of its communities. It’s also a blessing for the rest of the church, since Bishop Mark will tell our stories elsewhere. So come give him some stories to tell, and bring a dish to share if you can! A wifi device to access the bulletin is also a good idea (and if you have an extra one sitting around, would you bring it to share?).

Prayer Lab: Prayerful Planning

What is prayerful planning? Let’s find out together. We’ll say evening prayer, we’ll talk a little bit about the disciplines of envisioning the day and reflecting on it when it’s over (sometimes called the examen), and see if we can apply this to tying up some loose ends ahead of Bishop Mark’s visit. Bring some food to share if you can! Thursday, 18:00, Vrijburg.

Wijdekerk

We are now recognized by Wijdekerk, an organization maintaining a list of queer-affirming religious communities in the Netherlands. Thanks to Zinzy for making this happen! To borrow Zinzy’s words, “If you've been thinking about that amazing queer friend who may love All Saints, consider this the universe telling you to reach out to them and invite them to Sunday's Eucharist!”

Greetings everybody! For those of you who may not know me, my name is Hahye.

I just returned from the first in-person Academy for Parish Leadership weekend of the Episcopal Church in Europe since COVID-19 broke out.

Before I left, I was asked what my expectations were. Honestly, I wasn’t really sure. I arrived not knowing a soul, or much about Episcopalianism at all. All I had to go on was knowing that I would like to know more about health.

In Munich, I got to meet people from all across the European convocation and hear about their lives, church communities, and beyond.

Around the table, I learned about fish in bathtubs and hydroplaning. We took walks around the garden and ate honey courtesy of the Schlossbienen.

Walks

Under a leafy, low-hanging, and long branch of a large tree, sixteen bee hives of varying heights nestle in the bright green grass.

In the conference room, we learned about “Sources of Transformation” and “Faith Development in Community”, amongst many other things. Many of the topics covered made me think of the All Saints community, in many different ways.

Last but not least, Bishop Mark and I got to meet!

‘Twas fun, would recommend!

All Saints People: Story of Your Name

Current favorite cartoon: “Go, Dog! Go!” It seems to involve dogs who do little else than race in cars and occasionally other vehicles.

That's all for today!
