All Saints Sunday: Bring Pictures or Artifacts!
We will celebrate the Feast of All Saints this Sunday (transferred from Friday). Not only is the feast we are named after (and thus an excuse for a party), but All Saints and the related Feast of All Souls are extremely powerful commemorations when we have access to the fullness of the church in heaven and on earth. They are also of huge cultural importance in many Anglican and other Christian communities. Herfstvakantie means I don’t have the peace and quiet to write the meditation I’d like for this newsletter, but please come. Bring a picture or other artifact of the faithful departed in your life for our altar!
Thursday Bible Study

Speaking of powerful things, Mpho will lead us in an online Bible study on Thursday at 18:00. Because of the present mobility limitations of several Thursday stalwarts and the way it seems to have worked well in recent weeks, we are going to take Thursdays online for the time being (except for the community dinner). We still want to do our moveable feast, so think about where we could go! (Use the evening prayer link below)
Morning and Evening Prayer
At least one person from All Saints will be online for morning prayer at 8:00 and evening prayer at 18:00 every weekday in November. It lasts 10 to 15 minutes, so feel free to join when you can!
Also known as the Daily Office, morning and evening prayer are one of the underpinning rhythms of Anglican spirituality. The English reformers adapted what had become a monastic tradition for ordinary Christians. It was such a success that it has been taken up and further adapted by many other Christian communities. There are many ways to do it: college chapels and large English churches set it to choral music; a group can do it seated in a circle; you can do it by yourself; or you can do it online with us (and then you don’t have to figure it out yourself).

Don’t Forget that 17th November Parish Meeting!
It may not quite knock you over like All Saints Day, but this is where holy work gets done. Come to worship and stay for a meal and our conversation!

“…that we all may cry aloud thus unto God: Alleluia!
I always listen to this “funeral ikos” by the English Anglican-ly Orthodox composer, John Taverner sometime around All Saints and All Souls Days.
That’s all for Today! Want to talk to a priest? We want to talk to you too!
