We’re live — for real this time
Hey — sorry about the email earlier. We’ve been setting up the subscriber system and jumped the gun with a test send. Got it sorted now.
But the good news is real: Seba is live. seba.health
It’s the fullest expression of everything I’ve been working toward since I started writing The Shadow of a Figure of Light. The name comes from the Greek σέβας — awe, reverence. Homer uses it to describe what strikes the thūmos, that organ of feeling the modern West forgot it had.
Here’s what’s on the site:
- The library — hundreds of books from Homer to Hillman, each with original commentary. The reading list I wish someone had handed me when I started this work.
- Sebastian — an AI trained on the full library. You can ask him anything about depth psychology, ancient Greek thought, mythology, recovery, dreams. He answers from the actual sources, with citations. He’s not a chatbot. He reads and responds from a carefully curated set of prompts.
- Experiences — draw a tarot spread and get a depth-psychological reading. Bring a dream. Draw a passage from the bibliomancy deck. Cast an I Ching hexagram. Each one is Sebastian working through the library in real time. I’ve tried each of the experiences and am always surprised at the way Sebastian handles the material.
- Assessments — the Logoi Psyches quiz (some of you have already taken it), plus a Jungian typology test, a shadow profile, an attachment style quiz, and anima/animus and alchemical stage quizzes.
- The concordance — a cross-corpus index spanning the full collection of over 500 books and counting. Search by concept, figure, or tradition.
- The directory — over a thousand curated analysts and practitioners. Not pay-to-list. I chose every one of them and wired the AI to help people find a good analyst or therapist either near them or willing to work via Telehealth.
- The Research Assistant — This is my favorite function of the site and the tool I use the most. Query Sebastian about a research question or thesis you have, and he will pull some of the most profound readings to either challenge or support your question. For those interested in deep research, this component is not to be missed. There is nothing like it anywhere else.
I built this because I believe the material in these books is too important to leave locked behind academic paywalls and out-of-print catalogs. Depth psychology, the classics, the deep Western tradition of working with soul — this material changes lives when it reaches people who need it. Seba is how I’m making that happen and Sebastian is the advanced tool I have provided to query my own, personal library.
It’s a little premature, but we’re running with it. I can’t wait to hear what you think — reply to this email with any feedback. I read every one.
