Women's History Month's Greatest Hits

It’s Women’s History Month! Again! What a delightful time every year to focus on the history of half the population. I’m gonna be focusing on some fast facts on a number of women, and especially trying to focus on those whose stories are not told as often. We have developed something of a canon of women’s history facts, which should be told, but shouldn’t be relied on time and time again. This week, we’re going to share those and then move on! These include:

Actress Hedy Lamarr was an inventor.

Suffragettes knew jiu-jitsu.

Julie d’Aubigny was a bisexual opera singer and fencer.

Ida B. Wells marched with her state in the suffrage parade even when the National Women’s Party told her to march at the back with other black suffragists.

And more! Those are a great start to the month. I’m really looking forward to some fast facts about women from around the world, some of whom were awesome, some of whom were terrible, all of whom are interesting. Onward!
