Women's History Month Special Edition!
Happy Women's History Month! What a great time of year!
As I say in this article for Book Riot, the first women's history conference was held in 1979. 40 years ago. That's about half the lifespan of the modern woman.
Since that time, scholars and historians have been playing catch up, writing books, making movies, and trying to learn as much as we can about the mostly undocumented lives of women over the past few thousand years. While it's frustrating at times, it's also incredibly awesome to keep discovering amazing woman after amazing woman around the world throughout the entire history of humankind.
I wish we could learn about them all, but there's not enough time and not enough people cared to write down their stories. This newsletter is a small attempt to fix that. This month it will continue to come out twice a week, but will sometimes focus on multiple women. If you have any favorite stories you'd like to suggest, reply to this email.
Happy Women's History Month! I'm so damn excited.
