Khutulun of Mongolia could probably spare some horses for a fellow horse gal
Khutulun of Mongolia, a 13th century warrior, SEEMS like fairytales were based off her. This is mainly because she said any man that wanted to marry her had to defeat her in wrestling. Which feels real fairytale-like.
She also won horses from guys who wanted to marry her, to the point that she had thousands and thousands of horses, which is pretty cool if people are like “oh, are you married?” and you say “No, but look at these HORSES” and it’s just like thousands of horses running around and all yours.
Marco Polo wrote about her, so she is of course featured in the Netflix series Marco Polo. I didn’t know this existed before now, but I’d be willing to watch maybe based on how cool she looks riding one of her many horses.
The fact from this week:
Khutulun of Mongolia. * Called her own shots. * Related to Kublai Khan. * Had so many horses and was great at wrestling.
