Things I Have Purchased and Liked: Summer Edition
Enjoy some recommendations while I get my head together
Well hello. I’ve been busy playing a game I call “Is It Depression or Is It the World?” I’m in the final round, which I’m calling “Surprise, It’s Both!”
While I’m having fun with that, I thought I’d share with you some purchases that I’ve been extremely pleased with, because why not? (None of these are affiliate links, by the way. Should they be? I don’t know, probably?)
Let us begin!
I don’t really go for lipstick these days, but I dig this, which is just a skosh richer than a lip balm.
This, my friends, is the Balmy Tint Hydrating Lip Balm. Memoir (“mauve with neutral undertones”) is my everyday color, while I wear Wanderlust (“berry with cool undertones”) when I’m heading out. The texture is flawless; there’s not much of a flavor/scent; and it sort of stains your lips, so even though it wears off pretty fast you won’t mind so much.
Similarly, I don’t wear foundation but I do wear tinted moisturizer, which feels not all that different from foundation. This stuff, I don’t mind telling you, is the tits.
This lil’ sweetheart is the Suntegrity 5-in-1 Tinted Moisturizing Face Sunscreen. (But why isn’t it called “Skintegrity”!? Why!?!?)
A dermatologist I read somewhere named this the best sunscreen around, so I ordered it, and he was not lying.
Banana Boat Light As Air Sunscreen Lotion SPF 50.
As a pale Creature of the Night, I’ve tried them all (including many of those much-ballyhooed Korean brands). This is the best. It dries without any stickiness or white cast. (Caveat: I am, as stated above, a pale person.) It leaves behind a mild and pleasant smell. And it’s cheap.
That same dermatologist (how I wish I could remember who it was!) touted the following sunscreen lip balm as the only sunscreen lip balm that doesn’t taste like sunscreen (i.e. terrible) and once again: hot damn, he was right.
This is O'Keeffe's Lip Repair SPF 35 Lip Balm. I love it.
Next up: I have found the non-alcoholic drink of the summer.
Recess Zero Proof Craft Mocktails, Lime "Margarita"
I have been limiting alcohol to the occasional going-out time, but I still wanted a lil’ something for the end of the day/week. These are delicious. I also tried the Cosmo version, and it’s fine, but I like this one more. Note: I don’t know what the “adaptogens” do. Also, I have read that these have a little bit of caffeine, but I am a delicate flower who can get jittery from a square of dark chocolate and haven’t noticed any effects.
Finally, I love this deodorant so much.
Salt and Stone Aluminum-Free Extra-Strength Deodorant.
It smells incredible and it seems to work? (No one has complained. To my face. Yet.) I have tried a few of the scents, and they’re all good, but my current favorite is Neroli and Basil. (I may have also purchased the body wash and lotion. And the body mist. I like it, is what I’m saying.) Sure, it’s more expensive than your typical deodorant, but you get to feel like a fancy person every morning when you apply it. And isn’t that worth something?
