There we are. The first 'real' newsletter. It took a while getting things set up and out there, but that's normal! It's completely new ground for me before, so I'm taking my sweet time with getting acquainted with stuff. I'm going quite 'all out' with it too, but in my time on the internet I've realised that within the indie scene, marketing is quite important.

Really, go scroll steam or the itch store, or check instagram, or pinterest. Or check a streaming site or an anime site. There's SO MUCH media out there nowadays, we are in an era of information and information overload. So how do you distinguish yourself? Well, you don't quite - really. Sure, every good concept is unique in some way or another. But there usually is someone out there who's done something similar before. So what's the difference maker? Well, which people it reaches. And sometimes, that's up to pure luck, but by putting it out there actively, there's a higher chance of it being picked up!

Switch

So, with me recently finally having pushed myself over the hurdle of getting my stuff out publicly, I wanted to ensure people had ways of keeping up to date with my stuff if they wanted to. Here we go. I'm proud to announce Switch - a monochrome puzzle platformer where a detective tries to find their lost cat.

A demo will be brought out end this summer!

Live Life Updates

So, how’s life?

Well, chaotic, yet good. I finished my exams (woohoo all subjects passed this year), and started my new job as software engineer. It’s been an interesting time - I’ve learned a lot already in the short time I have been at work there. Mostly, getting to learn new systems and how to code a bigger product in a clean way has been quite exciting. Aside from that, I’m starting driving lessons soon. I’ll also be giving several workshops in historical sword fighting next week, and I’m dogsitting Lily, which is always a fun time.

That’s not even to mention therapy (which, while exhausting, has been good) and starting driving lessons. All and all I’m keeping myself busy enough.

Listening

My curated funny song of choice today is Spider in the Roses. For those who don’t know, my creativity is often jumpstarted by music. This song in particular is a funny one, as I recently improvised a full TTRPG session based solely on this one song. The players were lost in a fae forest, and encountered an odd garden in the middle of it. By the time they realized it was too late… they were caught in the web.

Nothing currently! I don’t do visual media all too often recently.

Reading

On the recommendation of a friend of mine I’ve started checking out the Wheel of Time series - just starting with book one. It hasn’t quite caught me yet, and while enjoyable, there are some parts that are irking me. Regardless, it’s still fun to check out some new reading materials. Also soon, I’ll get started on Darker Shores - the third book in the Six of Crows series!

Playing

I recently started Truth Scrapper Demo - a project by the dev of In Stars and Time, which by the way was a massive inspiration for me to finally get started with getting my works out there. If you haven’t played ISAT yet, you should check it out!

You wish to know about the floor pickle situation.

So, for those who don’t know. A few weeks ago, these appeared in the bike shed of my building (still standing straight up at that point). It’s a mystery who left them there, and in all those weeks, no one has taken them. The only notable change is that they had fallen over last week, then got put upright again. Who would knock the poor pickles’ over? Who would do such a horrible thing? We may never know. But with that I bid you farewell for this one.
