Parental Leave - Week 11
Aloha!
This has nothing to do with Hawaii.
Putting a bow on the final official week of parental leave. Tomorrow, Amelia and Jonny will both be in their respective childcare facilities. I am going to take a few days for myself to transition (and clear out an working space for myself) before I settle back into software developer life.
Monday was Amelia's last day at her preschool, where she has been for the last couple of weeks. At my final pick up, she invited me in and wanted to spend some time showing me around before we said our final good bye. The teachers all seemed genuinely sad to see her go. Before we left, she told me "this is a magical place." We will greatly miss it.
Amelia spent the remainder of the week (and the next two weeks) at Little Explorers School near Green Lake in their summer day camp program. Last week the theme was Dinosaurs. This week it will be "around the world", followed by "classic Disney." She'll finish off her summer at a bike camp before starting the school year at Villa.
I finished up my last week of leave with Jonny with a couple more walks around Green Lake. My step count will definitely go down when I go back to work.
For myself, I finished Arthur C. Clarke's 2061: Odyssey Three and also read 3001: The Final Odyssey. Looking for that next book now. I might look at one of the translations of The Diamond Sutra. Along those lines, I've also revived my mediation practice, which I had shelved a little while ago. My sits are not very long, but I've at least made space every day for the last week. Going to try to keep it up.
That's all for now.
Cheers,
Aleks
