Parental Leave - Week 10
Hello!
On the home stretch of parental leave. Technically, this coming week will be my next, but I may be taking some additional PTO since Jonathan doesn't start daycare until August 7th, and I want to be there for that transition, and also to have a little time to transition myself.
Speaking of Jonathan, he continues increase in speed and power. He is also starting to sound out some distinct syllables; I think "da da" is just around the corner.
Yuling acquired a (much coveted) used Woom bike for Amelia, as she will be attending a learn-to-bike camp at the end of the month. The new-to-her bike of course prompted her to finally start using the scooter we got her a year and a half ago that she never used. The last few days she has been doing about mile long excursions on her scooter.
Amelia also had a dentist appointment this week. Last time she was too afraid to let the dentist put any metal instruments in her mouth. This time, I bought her some tools and plastic teeth from Amazon so she could get a better sense of what the dentist does in there, and I'm happy to report she went peacefully through a full examination.
My highlight of the week was our water heater from 2009 finally passing away. The kind folks from Raymark were able to install a new one at a reasonable price the next day, but not before I got to give cold showers a try. I sort of liked it and have been doing it deliberately for the last few days.
I'll close this week's update by noting that although I am generally against censorship of books at the library, I would appreciate a heads up if any of the early reader type books are going to contain depictions of a goose being disemboweled that I am then going to have to answer a hundred questions about.
Cheers,
Aleks
