Parental Leave - Epilogue
Greetings Friends!
This week marked my glorious return to full time work! I took the first half of the week off before returning on Thursday to relearn what my job is.
I did manage to get out a new Substack post though, which I am pretty happy with.
Jonny completed his first week at daycare. To our shock, he finished out the week without getting sick. We have reports that he is eating. He struggles a bit with taking naps in that setting, but does occasionally get one in.
Amelia completed another week at Little Explorers School. This week was "Around the World." She has two more weeks there before she goes into a week of Pedalheads Bike Camp.
And speaking of bikes, I am excited to report that today Amelia took her first proper ride on a pedal bike. She had been really into her balance bike (basically a bike with no training wheels, but also no pedals, that is used for practicing gliding and balancing) for a good part of the week. Today, she decided she was ready for her pedal bike and took off like it wasn't a thing. We're still excited for her to go to the camp, but I think it will be more fun now that she has some miles under her belt already.
Definitely a proud dad moment.
On my end, everything is been mostly good. I can feel the health dropping off though as I won't be taking walks for hours with Jonny anymore. I also picked up American Prometheus, a biography of J. Robert Oppenheimer. It has been alright so far.
That's all for now friends. If we didn't have a chance to connect over parental leave, I hope I still get a chance to see you before the summer is out.
Signing out,
Aleks
