Old fashioned rain
The sound of rain mixed well with the clink of ice in my old fashioned, so it felt like time for another letter.
Amelia is well into her PreK program at Villa Academy. Last week, she was there until 1:30, but with the start of their extended day program, she is now there until 5 pm. She already has a friend she looks forward to seeing there each day, and each day it takes some amount of dragging to get her to leave. On the way to the car, we have to take "the shortcut", which is her name for leaving the stairs and climbing down the retaining wall to the parking lot.
Amelia is continuing with her violin lessons. This week, she will be starting group classes in addition to her private sessions. I look forward to seeing how she does playing with peers. I do suspect her really passions lie with the cello. I introduced her to 2Cellos this week, and she can not get enough of this sort of thing.
With Jonny being in day care for the better part of the day still, it has been nice being able to work more or less a normal 9 to 5 (or 8:30 to 4:30). There has been a lot less ducking out and pretending to be at work via my phone while actually taking care of the older one. I've also had to get used to heading to bed around 10:30, as opposed to my normal midnight or later. The days now start at 6:30 am. Just in time for the shortening days.
Me?
Last week I subjected myself to some good old fashioned manual labor by scrubbing the green and pine needles off of our roof. Except I only got through half of it because it was harder than I expected. On the plus side, I bought myself a profession fall protection harness so I felt like a real roofer.
A beautiful end to a beautiful summer.
Take care everyone,
Aleks
