Dear Guild Members and Friends,
This time of year always feels especially meaningful for our weaving community. Not only is it a season of gathering and gratitude, it’s also prime willow harvesting season. The quiet landscapes invite us to collect the season’s beautiful rods with respect and care. As everything around us slows into winter’s stillness, we hope you too, find time to rest, restore, and nourish your creative spirit.
Member Socials
We are excited to introduce a new gathering exclusively for members of the Alberta Basketry Guild: Member Socials. These gatherings will offer a relaxed and welcoming space to connect, chat, and create alongside fellow guild members.
While there will be no formal instruction, you’ll have opportunities to purchase materials to start that project that’s been on your bucket list or simply bring your own project or supplies from home and enjoy weaving in community.
Our first Member Social will take place on December 7th. Keep an eye on your inbox for registration details.

We’re also looking for members interested in hosting future socials (hopefully all around the province!). If that’s you, simply reply to this email, we’d love to chat!

Weaving Connections 2026
On March 6-8, 2026 we will be gathering for a weekend of weaving at Aspen Ridge Greenhouse in Sherwood Park. This is the fourth year we have held this event and our second year running it as the Alberta Basketry Guild.
General registration for Weaving Connections opened on December 1st and we are now 60% sold out!
Thank you to everyone who shared the event with friends and helped spread the word. It is wonderful to see our community coming together and making gatherings like this possible.
