To Wales in a Car

Random Curation

I noticed the above from a friend's Facebook post (the original Dave post). My immediate response was that I thought it had to come from Cowes to so be designated.

A while back I'd listened to a podcast about the history of vaccines. It included that the word vaccine derives from the Latin for the cowpox virus: variolae vaccīnae - vacca being Latin for a cow.

Dave's post and my response will segue well to a post I am planning about '-ine' words for animals. Vaccine is not used in that context for cows, bovine is, albeit at a cattle level. So whilst researching more about bovine and exactly what cattle are I pushed my mind into the world of ungulates. From there, it was but a short trip to Wales.
