Debunking AI Myths

From Daniel Leufer and AI Myths team (Mozilla Fellowshop Project) | With every genuine advance in the field of ‘artificial intelligence,’ we see a parallel increase in hype, myths, misconceptions and inaccuracies. UPCOMING 🗓 — AIxDesign Keynote: AI Artivism (Aishatu Gwadabe)

Image

This keynote talks about decentering AI design from Eurocentric accounts of the field, redirecting design ontologically towards decolonial and pluriversal visions. Together with Aishatu, we will explore how the intersection of art, AI, and peace technology can create desirable future(s) in a postcolonial world that can foster equity and raise awareness about social justice issues.

About the speaker: Aishatu is an international peace technologist advocating for social justice within technology by forging new digital pathways for peace. She weaves real-world issues into technological promises of a better future, to ensure that complex social systems have space to develop self-organized structures. When free from work and speaking engagements, Aishatu enjoys creating – as a visual AI artist, she explores machine-learning techniques through digital art, photographs, and paintings.

AIxDESIGN IS 1 YEAR! DROP YOUR THOUGHTS, HELP US CHART OUR PATH FORWARD 💭

Image

AIxDesign is 1 years old and we love what we got going on!

What started as a Slack channel is evolving into something much bigger and it’s our pleasure putting it all together and hosting a space for you to share, inspire, learn, and connect.

So far we’ve been fully self-funded so not supported by any subsidies, corporate sponsorships, or any other financial partners. But as the community and platform has been growing, so are the resources required and costs made. While an amazing team of volunteers contributes their hours and creativity, we want to support them better and the tools & services we are using right now don’t come for free.

To figure out how we can best keep our work going as a nonprofit, we would like to ask for your help in this 2 minute survey. We want to understand better what you get most value out of, how we can do even better, and explore what way of supporting AIxDesign financially would work for you. Drop us your thoughts in the link below and build the way forward with us!

Thoughts here!
