You are invited to the Airhorn GALALAAA!
Hello dear friends and comedy “heads”!
You are cordially, formally, and effusively invited to the inaugural Airhorn Galalaa, a big time fancy black tie affair!
It will be held on the 2nd of May at the Newtown Community Centre at 8pm.
There will be art, theatre, fancy dress, sophisticated topics (approached with grace), and wall to wall laughs!
I am going to drop the semi-formal tone and be real with you: the May show is going to be, in both quantity and quality, huge. I think we had too much of a blast with the Fringe fest show and wanted to bring in that wall-bursting chaos again, to pack the centre to the gills with a comedy extravaganza…so that’s what we’re doing!
It is timed, conveniently, with the Comedy Fest. Now, I will also be real with you: our relationship with the comedy fest is complex, contentious, emotionally fraught, and at times combative. This show is not affiliated with that organisation. It is happening on the opening night of the fest and at the same time as their Gala in Auckland, but this is a coincidence and not parody. I think really we just saw all the “fest”-ivities happening and got inspired and wanted to put on a big ol’ party too. A party we want you to come to! We want to have party with you!
This show is also a way to celebrate our Airhorn family who have big, cool-ass shows happening soon and give a preview of their upcoming masterworks. And we also wanted to celebrate our Airhorn crew that don’t have shows and give them time to shine. And we wanted to celebrate artful violence and throw some wrestling in the mix too! It’s an honest to god sampler platter of the best comedy (and violence) in Wellington; which is to say the best comedy (and violence) in the entire country and maybe the world?
Who’s going to be on the show? What other big shows do they have coming up that we recommend you also see? LEMME TELL YOU IN AN EASY TO SCAN LIST!
